Bygone Brokeback

I don’t know why I haven’t felt like posting this weekend.  Nothing big has been going on.  I got an extension to finish writing my paper through the end of the summer so that’s a big load off.  Now I’m just focusing on preparing for my exam on the 10th.  By that time I should be able to absorb enough info not to fail.

We watched most of Maurice (pronounce morris in England apparently) last night.  I don’t care what you say I just love, love, love Hugh Grant.  I don’t know when he did this film but it’s pretty good aside from the fact that it’s just as long as every other Merchant-Ivory film I’ve watched.  I love a good costume drama but honestly, more than two hours seems a little excessive.  Did I say it was pretty good?  Kinda like Remains of the Day meets Brokeback Mountain.  I haven’t actually seen Brokeback yet but I did read the story so I’m guessing that it’s pretty close here.

We’re definitely teething over here.  Chase woke up from a nap today and in spite of being fed and changed and entertained she continues to be sort of fussy.  A low-grade kind of different than usual fussiness.  Turns out upon further investigation that she wants to chew chew chew.  She was so not herself, not smiling and laughing like usual.  So we took her out to BRU, she took another little nap and we bought her some teething thingies and another little gym toy that has more bells and whistles than the one we have.  She was much happier when we got home.  Do I think this is because she had new toys?  Probably not, but you know, we felt better.  The stupid activity gym is supposed to grow with the child but the picture on the box is deceiving as far as it concern pre-sitters.  It has a little foot bar that prevents her from being able to reach the toys… I have to look at it better tomorrow to see if it can be used without the foot bar thing.  I had a piano toy in mind that she could kick.  But they all had to be suspended from the side of the crib and I’m not down with that.  I don’t even like having the mobile there scratching up the side of the crib.

We got a little inflatable pool too with a little sunshade.  Can’t wait to use that she’s really going to dig it.  And all the while he’s putting crap in the cart, Ben is telling me how his kids won’t get everything they want.  I didn’t say much about it because I suspect just the opposite especially for his little girl.

I’ve started working my way through this crap shack on a spring cleaning jag.  It’s going well.. about as well as can be expected I guess.  I should really be working tonight as I’m going in to the office tomorrow.  I’ll keep you posted.  Oh, and once the sod’s down we’ll probably be hosting a bbq.  More on that later.

Oh, and those bastards STILL aren’t done with my computer.  Make no mistake, I will be calling AGAIN tomorrow.
