So my doc says I’m still looking good. It doesn’t look like the tumor has changed at all this is good news for obvious reasons. As always they took good care of me at the hospital. UMMC is just the nicest building and it’s funny. Even though I had a really traumatic surgical event there I’ve never felt weird going back for follow ups. On the other hand, being back at GBMC where I delivered has me shaking in my boots. Isn’t that weird? Anyway check the photos below… I took a shot of my chart. There are probably only a couple of you out there that have that beat!
Chase had a busy day at the hospital. I’m going to put it on a contin uous loop…. 41/2 months, 8lbs 3.6oz, 18lbs 11oz, thank you, yes, she’s always happy, thank you, yes she looks like her dad, thank you, have a good day. Not that I don’t love hearing how cute she is… and she obviously can’t get enough of it either. She hams it up like you wouldn’t believe, smiling like crazy for all the old ladies while they die over here. That was the wrong word… I just meant, figuratively not literally. My punctuation is lousy, I apologize.
I’m going to put up the recipe for chocolate chip cookies that we did yesterday. They were very good. I like my childhood recipe but it’s really ot a pure chocolate chip cookie recipe and doesn’t make Ben happy. This one seems to fit the bill although I didn’t notice if he had any today. The problem with desserts is that they’re all so good. I manage to exercise some self restraint and choose to have only one each night but there’s hardly enough time between cookies and mocha chip hagendaas, sigh. It was easier when I didn’t have a favorite ice cream.
I was craving bbq chicken earlier. That is, chicken adorned with bbq sauce as opposed to done on the grill. It wasn’t the chargrilled taste I was craving but rather the sauce. I turned up some chicken wings in the freezer and did them up under the broiler the same way as the teriyaki wings and just changed up the sauce. They really hit the spot along with some mini corn muffins. Ever since I bought those stupid mini muffin pans I don’t want to use the regular sized ones anymore. Everything is tastier mini.
How’s progress on the photo scavenger hunt? I want updates people! Time’s a wastin’.
Lastly, there’s a picture of the couch we’re looking at. I value your opinions… what do you think? We were going to choose a different color for the upholstery.
She did it! Finally! Baby Chase rolled over from stomach to back… and then she cried, poor thing. She’s so cute.
Thanks to my sister, I have a new hobby. I’m posting my first attempt at what I believe is called digiscrapping. I’m looking forward to getting enough of these done to have printed into a photo book. I think that would be pretty durned cool.
We made cookies together today. I don’t know if the video is much worth watching she didn’t seem as into the cookies as the granita but we’ll see how it looks when I get it up. We went furniture shopping today and saw a couple of things. Nothing really blew us away but we saw some things that were acceptable. We’ll have to decide by next weekend cause I want to get in on some of these financing deals.
Oh, you mean the job duties don’t actually require you to “finish” cake… how disapointing. Need more back story? Danielle saw a sign posted at the Pink Rose bakery for a cake finisher. My first reaction was wow, that’s a paying job? Where do I sign up. My second reaction, damn it’s not a paying job.
So, this morning I slept in! So nice! We were indecisive about how to spend the day so we took an impromptu detour on the way to Costco. We went out to Annapolis and had lunch at McGarveys which was delicious as usual. We were there early so it wasn’t too crowded. We kept Chase entertained with her plastic keys but only after she tired of watching the ceiling fans. I thought they didn’t start doing things like throwing their toys on the floor for many more months. I swear to you this kid was driving her father mad by flinging them just beyond his reach every time I retrieved them for her. Chase got a cool new hat. It was in a five dollar bin but when we got to the register she rang up 13 and some change so I told her where i found it. She goes back and checks and was like yeah I don’t think they’re supposed to be in there. The hook where they were hanging before is missing but they’re all in there now so I’m going to give it to you. Then she says, and frankly, it’s not my problem. I think that was the first time that I’ve ever heard a salesperson say that. Usually they’ll fight you on any potential savings. Especially at the big boxes but not this chick. The bottom line is Chase has a cool new sun hat to wear with her cool new denim stuff.
We left there and went to Costco. We’re still diaper experimenting. I won’t be buying Kirkland brand anymore. I think that they’re predisposed to leaks and I’m very disapointed. Usually the qulatiy of their house products is very good. Earlier this week I bought a pack of Luvs and they seem to be working fine but there’s this psychological thing about needing to buy from Costco. Ben and I were trying to figure it out. It’s a circular thing. You pay for membership… and membership has it’s rewards… so you get the membership to shop but you keep shoping because you bought the membership. It’s like a cult and now that I’ve figured them out you’ll probably not be hearing from me again. There will be a van outsied waiting to take me to their Kirkland immersion camp. I heard something about the branch davidians on the radio the other day too. Bring on the Kool-aid.
That’s the gist of the day. We saw a dude riding one of those big luxury motorcycles and I’m looking and looking and finally I’m like Ben, is that an air vent there above his knee? So Ben looks and is like hmm, yeah that’s what it looks like. So we think about it and I’m like well maybe it blows out hot air? Ben looks at me and is like um, if you need hot air blown on you… you need to buy a car. It seemed to funny at the time.
I guess that about wraps it up. Tomorrow we’ll go looking for furniture. It’s fun in theory but I’m thinking it’s going to be a long draining process. At least all the stores are in the same place. I’m hoping for Memorial day special type financing dea s.
…swing low sweet chariots! I’m still laughing about it. Anyway, another long week has come to an end. Phew! But you know I’m still hard at work. Ben works me like a dog has me working on projects I don’t know a damn thing about. Talk about flying by the set of your pants but what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right? Dinner is cooking so I thought I’d take a few minutes and catch up with you.
I susbscribed to consumer reports today. It’s getting to be about that time when we need to move Chase into a different car seat. We def. want to get a convertible one because I don’t want to have to buy another new seat when she’s ready to face forward or whatever. So we’ll have to go and see. The two top rated seats rate differently primarily because of their results using the latch system. Our cars are both from the era prior to when latch became standard so we’re going to go with the one that rates best for safety when used with belt restraint. The beauty of it is that they’re overall scores were the same and the one that rates best with the belt is like 100 bucks cheaper and made by evenflo. The subscription lasts a year and I foresee that it will come in handy.
Chase went down at almost 730 tonight. I’m curious to see if this will have any effect on her usual 430 wakeup time. I’ll keep you posted on that. Tomorrow is the big Scholastic book blowout. I have my book buyin’ bag all ready to smash and grab some deals. Can’t wait for that.
Sending people messages on Facebook makes my palms sweat as if I’m meeting these people I haven’t seen in 10 years in person. What’s that about. I thought that the impersonal distance and anonymity of cyberspace was supposed to make you fearless! Anyway, enough about that. We had our first taste of rice cereal today. At first she was like hmm.. I don’t know about this but after a few tastes she was smashing the tray of her highchair and demanding that the spoon come faster. All the while trying to grab my hand and smash the spoon into her mouth. Don’t worry, I took plenty of pictures.
Today was pretty low key. Got some work done, ran some errands. Pretty standard stuff. I picked up some cute stuff for Chase at a children’s consignment shop nearby on our walk today. She outgrew the two pairs of shorts I bought her foolishyl thinking that she’d stay in anything longer than two weeks. I bought all of this stuff 12 months so let’s hope. I also bought new diapers and stain remover because… well I guess the things I bought make their purpose pretty self explanatory.
Off to bed for me. We’re going to work tomorrow so I need to get some rest. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back into the groove of posting. And please, no comments about her being bibless… she was about to get ready for bed so a bib was pointless.
Hi, I’m back! I was wasting time mucking about on Facebook. I tried to get into myspace but it’s just not my scene. The cool thing about Facebook is that word of mouth is spreading between Hudsonites and Ex-Hudsonites alike and I’ve been reconnecting with people I haven’t seen in many many years.
About the nannies. I just think that it’s a better route than daycare. School is only 5 minutes away and there are no daycare options between here and there. At any rate, Ben is home and I’ll be in and out over the course of the day so it just seems to make more sense for her to be somewhere one of us can keep and eye on her. Don’t worry I’ll make sure she’s adequately unnatractive.
Ok, so the three dollar chicken. It’s not what you’re thinking I didn’t buy cheap chicken and get sick. Au contraire, I bought one single chicken thigh at Whole Foods. The moral of the story is fried chicken is only meant to be bought by the bucket. A single chicken thigh… 3 dollars! You could buy a whole chicken for that amount!
And I never told you about how Ben had to extricate a poor fat kid from a swing at the park. It took two grown men! And the worst part was that the two women that had brought him there couldn’t lift him out. No, the worst part was that they put him in the baby swing when he was clearly too big. Poor baby is probably scarred for life.
See you tomorrow.
In my posting duties. I can’t beliveve how quickly the days fly by. I’ve been trying to keep a mental tally of things I’ve meant to post but it’s just too hard. We’ve been pretty busy these past couple of days. We started interviewing nannies to care for Chase while I’m in class. I’m not looking forward to it but it seems like the best solution as opposed to taking her somewhere for daycare. I started the first leg of my first sewing project, I’m working on something to help Ben out, going into the office a couple of days this week, we have family swinging through tomorrow, you know, and eating, sleeping, and having the car worked on. Aside from that, I’ve been playing with my new toy which if you didn’t gather from my last post is a new awesome camera, so get ready! I’ve already had a head start :)
Just when I think I have stuff under control, Chase goes ahead and switched things up on me. All of a sudden bedtime is completely different than it was 3 days ago. Missy now refuses to be swaddled and refuses to sleep so long as there is any daylight in her room. The daylight part is tricky since her bedtime is 6:30-7:00. I think we’ve got it pretty well worked out but there’s a pretty steep learning curve to getting her down un-swaddled.
I’m really, really sorry that this post was such crap but I’m itching to get to bed before 11! I have a class on how to use my new sewing machine tomorrow night so I’ll probably have something to say about that.
