I’m writing yet another paper. Tomorrow all I have to turn in is a one page “note” regarding the topic, thesis etc. It takes me about 4 hours to do. Why? Because as soon as I have to sit down here and work, all of the productivity drains from me and I insist on spending hours on useless internet stuff. Reading blogs, chatting, what have you. It’s terrible. I’m thinking I’m probably the worst procrastinator I know. I did get the note done though and I think the topic is good. That must count for something.
So, last week I was almost run off the road by a tractor trailer on my way to work. Today I almost ran off the road of my own accord because some dude was changing a tire on the side of the road shirtless. Not only was he shirtless but he had this tattoo on his lower back. I mean honestly, I don’t know what came over me. He was scrawny and wearing cut-offs but something about the sweat glistening off his skin and that lower back tattoo had me like a moth to a flame.
Last night for dinner I made salmon. We were at Costco earlier in the day and I see the salmon in the fish case and I think to myself that’s so crazy that salmon clearly has color added to it because i’m looking at it and it’s like dayglo orange. But I get up closer and I see that no, in fact the dayglo orange salmon is copper river wild caught atlantic salmon. It turns out that that’s the color it’s supposed to be and all that farmed salmon that we’ve been eating? Their pitiful attempt at adding color doesn’t even hold a candle to the real thing it was truly amazing and delicious. I can’t even really post a recipe for it. I just seasoned lightly with Old Bay and tossed it in the pan. I made a little “salad” as a side and it was good. The dills sauce was from a recipe. I supposed to could post that. I have a real problem with sauce recipes though because they invariably make twice as much as you actually need for the accompanying recipe.
Chase was five months old yesterday! I can’t even believe it. Time is going so fast. Her hair and eyebrows have gone from sort of lightish brown to sort of darkish brown. It’s funny to see her with dark eyebrows it looks like she’s going over them with mascara. She has recently discovered her feet and thinks that they are totally faboo. We were in Philadelphia at a birthday party this weekend before having dinner with Ben’s parents and embarking on our second wacky roadtrip in as many weeks. Chase made a new friend. It’s only a little scary when she reaches out to touch a person or other living thing. There’s really no way to regulate her death-grip.
We had sweet potatoes tonight… I call her baby Matisse.. (he didn’t die of syphilis right?) At any rate, I think this bodes well in the creativity department.
Yesterday I scored a Moby Wrap from someone who bought it and didn’t like it. Bad for them good for me. I hadn’t even heard of it until Chelsea told me that she just bought one. I’ll give it a shot. I want to use it for back carries but it looks complicated and a little scary.
