A Busy Weekend

macys.jpg This weekend was both busy AND fun. That kind of fun where you’ve made a conscious decision to do something you want to do instead of doing the things you’re supposed to do. The best kind of fun… the kind of fun that hurts so good. Danielle came down on Friday. Saturday morning we got an early start and hit the mall. I’m sort of used to being at the mall in the middle of the day in the middle of the week and was sort of thrown for a loop by the sheer number of people at that mall on a Saturday afternoon. It was insane! Have you even been inside the apple store at 2 on a Saturday? It was total chaos.

There were a couple of things on the agenda but for me the whole point of the excursion was to find a pair of jeans that actually fit me. Of the 4 pairs of jeans that I have, none are less than 2 years old and none fit properly. Macy’s was our first stop and only a little discouraging. I won’t say it’s just as hard cause it’s not but it’s pretty hard to find clothes at this end of the spectrum. I finally hit the jackpot in the juniors department at Nordstrom. It was only a little sad and embarrassing to shop there but to make myself feel a little better I found a cute pair of shoes in the real ladies shoe department. So today I felt like Audrey Hepburn in that gap commercial where she’s dancing in my cute little flats and black capris. Back to the jeans though, they’re actually comfortable! I never knew! They don’t ride up and aren’t too tight and I’m totally blown away. I guess that’s what you get when you don’t buy clearance jeans. That’s right folks I paid full retail and I don’t regret it. I was inspired by an article in this month’s Blueprint magazine. The salvation army came and took away 6 bags of old clothes so I’m starting anew and am feeling good about it.

Saturday night Ben stayed home with Chase and Dan and I checked out the new shopping at the inner harbor. There’s a Best Buy and Filene’s Basement across from the Barnes and Noble now and a P.F. Chang’s on the street level. So we ate dinner there and had a nice glass of wine with. It was very enjoyable and I got a nice new pair of sunglasses to boot. Now I have to always carry two pairs. One for Chase to smash and the other pair for me to actually wear.

Sunday we went to the farmer’s market where I rediscovered kettle corn. Oh kettle corn! I thought that stuff I bought the other week was good but no, this stuff fresh out of the kettle was better. Mmmm. So much better! That about sums it up. I hardly took any pictures but Danielle took some. You can see them here. I especially like the captions and particularly the one where Cricket it looking out and carrying on about her social security check.

I’m glad Monday is over! I was falling asleep in class and I hate that feeling. That feeling where you’ve just completely lost control of your head and can’t tell if your head is bobbing up and down or if you’re still awake. Sometimes there were two of my prof and sometimes 4 and I had to blink really hard to get back down to just one. It was pathetic really and I would have left if I hadn’t had another class. I did better in that one because I could stare at my computer.

Chase is still working on pulling herself up. She pulled herself up from my lap today to see what was on top of my little computer stool. This is what she does every morning. She scoots over to her toys and pulls them all out one at a time.

We only made one impulse buy this weekend and that was to buy seasons 1 through 3 of the Office. Turns out I haven’t seen all of season 1. As a bonus I scored an awesome lunchbag…

And my farmer’s market bounty. I love this time of year!
