It seems we’re skipping fall in favor of jumping right into winter. We’ve had baby Chase in footed pj’s for the last couple of nights because it’s been just that chilly. She doesn’t mind though when she’s all cozied up in the nice gift she got from her friend B.
Things with Chase are all crazy here. She’s moving at lightning speed. It’s like all the developments have her head spinning and her body is literally spinning too. She likes to sit on the floor with a fun toy and use her heels to turn herself around and around. It’s quite amusing to watch. At some point today I observed her do the crawling baby equivalent of running while screeching and giggling maniacally. At some later point I observed her devise a plan for standing that involved executing a downward facing dog type of a move. The fun never ends. Last night she barely slept a wink for Read the rest of this entry »
I can’t call it fettuccine alfredo even though that’s what I originally intended to make. I can’t call it that because even though the pantry is stocked with what appear to be full boxes of pasta in assorted shapes and sizes, they are all actually half empty- or full depending on how you want to look at it and how hungry you are at the time. The only full boxes remaining? You guessed it, ziti and lasagne. To wit, ziti alfredo. Cut me some slack will ya? Read the rest of this entry »
The quickly growing “pile” of items of interest that I want to blog about is getting out of control. The “pile” is becoming insurmountable and is constantly cluttering my thoughts. I’m going to try to cull the best bits and trash the rest but if I know myself I won’t get one cogent story out, just a mishmash of incomprehensible story odds and ends.
The rain finally ended today. It was so lame to leave Boston on Friday when it was finally sunny only to come back to lousy weather in Baltimore. I’ve been thinking about taking Chase to a pumpkin patch for a couple of weeks because I thought she would get a huge kick out of seeing farm animals. As we’re coming up on Halloween this was the do or die weekend. I found a place just north of us and not too far away and so off we went. Chase had a great time but was not nearly as enthused as I had thought about the animals. They had goats and a sheep and various fowl and she looked and pointed but nary a one got a smile. She got a big kick out of touching hay and crawling in the grass. She even sat on the big tractor. Before leaving we had to have a little snack of course. We were supposed to share but the little saufer tried to drink all my cider and eat all my donuts. I had to bribe her just to have a few of the half dozen cider donuts to save for later. You didn’t think I only took one picture like that did you? So we’re flying out tomorrow with little more prepared than airline tickets and a hotel reservation. I have never, ever left this much up in the air when traveling before. I’m sure it will be fine. I mean the important parts are covered right? Hopefully we’ll spend a couple of days not worrying about dinner and laundry and catch some good shuteye. I’m really looking forward to it.
Not to mention that I turned in my paper tonight AND she let us go once our papers were turned in. It was so liberating. We’ll see how it goes when it comes down to oral argument. It has been a weak point for me in the past. I mean honestly, it’s not like I’ve been doing it for years. This will be maybe my third experience. If I’m lucky some of the general super senior ease that comes along with your fourth year will translate and things will go smoothly. One can always hope. Read the rest of this entry »
Actually, I’ll reserve the comparison part for part II of this post. My nature is such that I cannot just go changing my routine willy nilly so I really can’t give a fair opinion at this point. I was so thrown off by the electronics department being off to the left rather than to the right that my head was spinning from the moment we walked into the store. Actually, my head was spinning in the parking lot when I discovered you needed a quarter to unlock a cart. I haven’t seen that since we shopped at Super Carnival or Maxi or whatever 15 years ago.
The best analogy I can think of is that this particular BJ’s was to our Costco as Walmart is to Target. You know what I mean? Kind of the same… sort of. Same but different. I think it was an old store. I will say that they had tires inside the warehouse… next to the bakery. That most certainly leaves the shopping experience with something to be desired. On the other hand they sell pampers cruisers and have a bigger selection of dog food. They also had Tom’s of Maine toothpaste in a family pack instead of the toxic Aquafresh that Costco peddles. I think it requires more investigating and a trip to a different location. I don’t think we’ll head all the way out to Bowie but maybe Owings Mills or Pasadena. Maybe Columbia for a little shopping and maybe a lunch date? Only after visiting another store will I pass judgment. I can tell you with some certainty that I will not be visiting the White Marsh location again. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s official, I just booked my ticket do I’ll be riding Ben’s coattails right on into the city. I’ve never been to Boston so to all of you who have, input is appreciated. So the question is, where are you supposed to get all the relevant info you need for traveling with an infant? It’s not Chase’s first time on a plane so I’ve got that covered but it is her first time not staying with friends or family and not having a rental car. How do you stay with an infant in one hotel room and how do you get around without a car? I guess I’ll have some answers for you when we return.
I’m thinking that we’ll need to invest in an umbrella stroller because even though the Chicco folds up pretty compactly, it’s by no means lightweight. We’ll also bring the back carrier (that I scored for three bucks, awesome!) and see how that goes. I think that will make sightseeing easier or maybe we’ll just stay in the hotel room and watch tv. Who knows it is vacay after all!
I have to get to work so I’m cutting this short. On top of that, there are activities to be planned for me and Chase hooray!
I passed Duff from Ace of Cakes today on the street by his shop. He drives a scooter in case you ever wondered and obviously as a minor celebrity doesn’t feel that he is subject to the rules of the road. He didn’t say hello but he surely would have recognized me from my blog, the sun must have been in his eyes. Yes that’s it, the sun. It’s important because I don’t intend to break into the lifestyle tv world by prostituting myself on one of those shows but rather by working my connections. Now, if only I had some connections.
Then, later in class I was almost completely zoned out when someone raised their hand and exclaimed (that’s right, exclaimed!) That’s just incorrect with regard to how the professor was characterizing the facts of the case. She was silent briefly and then responded by telling the student that Read the rest of this entry »
