Shave 10 Years Off Your Man’s Life

We’re getting pretty slap happy over here. It’s late. Anyway, here’s what you do.. While your both steadily absorbed in work, casually mention that you’re freaking out because you have to go into bankruptcy and you really don’t want to. Then wait for the mmm hmm, and then the what? what did you just say? that will inevitably follow. It only took me another minute or so to figure out what I had said and how it might have been interpreted before explaining I was referring to the outline I’m preparing for my course in debtor/creditor relations. See, there is some joy in finals.

Thrift Bounty! Somebody Stop Me

113007-080049-pm.jpgLet me preface this all by asking why do thrift stores take credit cards? Does that even make any sense? If only they were cash only I wouldn’t get into so much stinking trouble. Anyway, I wasn’t looking for anything in particular but had been wanting to go see if there was anything to be had for a while. I should also mention that in the last couple of weeks I’ve gotten rid of the old fireplace insert, all of our old moving boxes and my old sewing machine so that there’s plenty of room for new to me junk all over the place. I have also cracked down on my bowl buying. I only buy the best pyrex designs and only on the high sided bowl not the ones with the handle thingies on the sides.

Ok so here goes…. Read the rest of this entry »

Cross That Off The List

xmasfinal.jpgI’m done with our Christmas cards as you can see. I’m sending them off to be printed as we speak. I was going to use one of the ready made versions but the picture looked so lousy in the style I like best. I’m very happy with how these ones turned out though. Hopefully it translates to paper.
I’m so stinking sleepy. Working in Photoshop and Illustrator is enough to make you poke your own eyes out. I still have some studying to do as well so I’m calling it a night. Read the rest of this entry »

28 on the 28th

signatures.JPGOld I say, old! Can you believe it? I never dreamed I’d be 28 in my wildest dreams. It’s ok though, I’m feeling pretty good about it. In spite of the fact that my hair’s all gray and my back aches all the time I’m feeling pretty good. Chase is here, I’m almost done with school, and Ben’s still hanging around in this crap shack we call home. Hmm.. I think I was supposed to enumerate this list last week. I suppose it’s ok as long as you get to being thankful at some point and I am!

I was all set to tell you what we were up to today but I see ‘someone’ saw fit to call me a shopoholic. So now you’ll just have to guess what was in the bag Chase is holding. I can be a baby on my birthday and I still have 20 minutes left. As soon as I’m done with this I’m going to run upstairs and commandeer the remote in the bedroom before Ben has a chance to. mwah haha. Read the rest of this entry »

A Pretty Good Birthday Present

cuteness.JPGAh, to be done with classes. So liberating and just in time. I was good until like 8:30 that was my absolute limit and after that I just couldn’t concentrate anymore. I bought myself a little treat. I picked up this compilation of little ditties on an impulse today because we have no Christmas music to speak of in this house. Scrooge Ben won’t let me listen to it yet but I have it at the ready. Jack Johnson AND Aimee Mann on the same Christmas CD? I’m all over it.

Over the weekend I posted about time spent at Barnes and Noble. While we were there we picked up a few winter/Christmas themed books for baby Chase. I always loved Ezra Jack Keats Snowy Day. I still do. I love how Peter is just a little boy and the story is just a story with no heavy handed message about race. You can check out what this woman has to say about the topic generally. I totally vibe with some of the stuff she says. To this day I still have not read Philip Hall Likes Me I Reckon Maybe. My parents just over did it. Read the rest of this entry »

How I Got So Skinny

how-i-got-so-skinny.JPGNo joke, I’ll never pay good money for 30lb weights. I’m lean and sinewy and people on the street don’t want to mess with me. I started on the garland tonight. In true Stephanie fashion I forgot that I was going to make the strings alternating cranberries and popcorn and made one complete string of popcorn before remembering. No matter, I just did a complete string of cranberries and then finally one alternating. Lather, rinse, repeat I guess that’s the beauty of patterns. They’re anything you make ’em. Why Sleep On It?

why-sleep-on-it.JPGWhen you can sleep under it? Apparently, a plush bed and a radiator are insufficient to warm Teenie’s old bones. She has to be the craziest little dog ever. Of course now she and Cricket are in dispute over control of the new bed so it looks like I’m going to have to make another. Cricket never gave the old sleeping bag a second look mind you. Now that it’s an awesome bed she wants to luxuriate on it in the bask of the radiator. But what will I use to make a bed this time? I might have to snag an old sleeping bag from the thrift store. I always worry that stuff has been peed on but it’s not like I’m going to sleep on it I suppose.

We did end up going to Costco today but it ended up being fine. I didn’t go insane over the toys but I’ll tell you they had that place stocked to the gills. There were boxes everywhere. Our cart was pretty loaded down but it was really just the insanely large bag of dog food that made it hard to push we really did stick to our list. Unfortunately we’ve been to the new location in Columbia and now I’m hooked on the imported ricotta and they don’t carry it in Glen Burnie. Read the rest of this entry »

Cincinnatti Chili

chili.JPGOk, one more attempt at a chili picture but if you tell me to nix it I’ll take it right down. I always just add two cans of kidney beans right to the chili instead of just using them as a topping because storing beans in the fridge just doesn’t make any sense for us. I suppose if I was cooking for a big crew I would pass them in the traditional way. Read the rest of this entry »

Content Contentment

dsc_0001.JPGI think a number of things have contributed to the craptastic posts I’ve been making for a while now. Sometimes I try recipes, take pictures and then just lose track of reporting back about it. Sometimes I start ten projects at once and never finish any of them so there’s nothing to talk about there either. Sometimes I’m too bashful to really post in-depth about what I’ve been doing because even though I read other blogs for inspiration who honestly gives a crap about Christmas stockings? Particularly when this isn’t a blog particularly devoted to any one topic ie: cooking or crafting or what have you. That being said, the posts remain craptastic so I’m going to do my best to create more carefully composed and thoughtful content. Read the rest of this entry »

Happy Thanksgiving

dsc_0031.JPGSo we’re back from T-Day. It was nice to see everyone but we’re glad to be home. The dogs were already missing us and there is much to do around the house. The construction phase of the stocking project is complete. I couldn’t find the fringey type of embellishment that i wanted but I’m pleasantly surprised by what a little metallic rickrack can do. All that remains is to figure out how I want to get our names on them. Im not in a rush to get to that though. I ended up taking yet another trip out today for the bells. I resisted as long as I could but I was just itching to shop. Read the rest of this entry »
