Stonckingy

112107-123504-am.jpgI was able to make a little progress on the stockings last night. I used a template that I found online and enlarged it as much as I could but our copy machine is pretty limited in that regard. Once I had it as big as I could get it I cut it out and used a compass to enlarge it equally all the way around and traced it onto the back of a sheet from a large desk calendar.

Then I used that original template and this picture that I’ve been saving as inspiration to freehand the second design. I have to add trim to the top of that one. I have some ideas but nothing is set in stone yet. I think the other one is crying out for fringe or other embellishment of some sort Read the rest of this entry »

On Our Way

112107-111507-am.jpgWe’re leaving in a few hours for Thanksgiving. Have I had two minutes to throw some underpants in a bag with my toothbrush? Nope. Hopefully, we can still get out of here close to on time.

Obviously I have to cut this short since I’m not even packed. Everyone have a lovely holiday!

Gobble Gobble

112007-074857-pm.jpgAaaah, that’s all I have to say. Thanksgiving break has always provided a false sense of relaxation where there really shouldn’t be any because exams are just around the corner but I’ll take what I can get. It’s never stopped me from enjoying myself before so why start now? I’m online right now scoping ideas for Christmas stockings.

We spent some time out today looking for Christmas gifts and I found some cute little stocking stuffers. There’s a new Lakeshore educational store in Towson so we stopped in there. It was a nice place to stop and shop because they were a) not at all busy b) were open to letting kids play and touch the stuff they had set up around the store and c) seemed to actually like kids. One of the associates put on a little puppet show for Chase who loved it but even at 10 months eventually crawled over to the curtain and pulled it back to reveal the great and powerful Oz. We came home with a dog puppet in spite of her cynicism. Read the rest of this entry »

Positive Feedback

big-smile.jpgAnd there was plenty of it! I am so happy with how my oral argument went. For once, in spite of the fact that I hardly practiced aloud at all, I felt very comfortable with the cases and the record. I felt comfortable enough to handle any question they had for me and judging by my feedback the judges thought so too. This year has been very eye opening for me. I don’t know what I should attribute these new developments to there are so many possibilities.

I used to feel really lost when people would ask me what I wanted to do. I had so many craptastic mock trial and moot court experiences that I thought I knew that I didn’t want to touch litigation or criminal defense with a ten foot pole. Only a few years later I feel like maybe that’s not so true anymore. Maybe I don’t want to hide behind my federal appellate-admin shield that almost never lands you before a panel. There’s that and then there was coming to the realization that I had an interest in Business law. Read the rest of this entry »

Gonna Break A Leg

1118.jpgI’ve done a minimal amount of work on bib project #2. I’m supposed to be working on tomorrow night’s argument and had to bake blondies for Ben’s potluck tomorrow so there was not much time. It’s ready to go whenever I am though and that’s enough to keep me going for a little while. I have the front and back cut but I have yet to determine a fabric to use as trim. I have to get in there and dig through my stash a little.

Not much went on around here today. We got a few less hi’s today. The last couple of days it’s been hi! Hi! Hi! Pretty much all day. It seems the novelty is wearing off. I suspect she’ll be on to her next word wanting to conquer that too pretty soon. Well, off to bed for me. I have to go sample the blondies to make sure that they’re edible and put in a last minute effort into beefing up my daily caloric intake right before bed so it will be too late to burn them off.  I’ll check in tomorrow after I crush my opponent in this argument (positive thinking ya know).

Find!

dsc_0028.jpgSo where to begin? Such a busy day! You know we always try to hit the ground running on Saturday mornings. We left for the farmer’s market at like 9:30 and it was already a mad house. I guess that’s because Thanksgiving is upon us and everyone was out buying celery and sage. I went for apples… oh, we got apples alright. The sign said, ‘this is our last day at this market and to end the season half bushels are on sale!” Half bushels, mind you I went thinking I would buy a half peck. The lady talked me into the half bushel doing the math on how much it worked out to per pound. Do you have any idea how many apples are in a half bushel? Read the rest of this entry »

Bibs!

dsc_0027.jpgI finally finished it. This is seriously like a 2 hour project that took me two weeks or more to complete. I was so happy and excited that I took pictures without cutting threads or pressing but you get the point. So, remember what I was saying about old t-shirts? Now every time I put this one on her I’ll get a little misty because I’ll be thinking about how all too soon Chase will be calling me from school to tell me she’s spending the weekend at a friend’s house in Jersey but instead will be flying as far south as US Air will take her and then riding the dog the rest of the way to Key West. Sigh… and only yesterday the only word she knew was hi! Read the rest of this entry »

Pig Pickin’

dsc_0071.jpgIt all started last night with a dry rub. Then a long day of low and slow roasting. We started the actual pickin’ around 6:30 and haven’t stopped yet. We decided to skip dessert and to have sandwiches instead. I made coleslaw and I thought it turned out well. I really think that coleslaw is hit or miss so I’m always skeptical. I didn’t even use a recipe for it. I didn’t really have the ingredients for coleslaw so I figured why bother with all the trouble of a recipe. Read the rest of this entry »

Tiny Dancer

dsc_0033.jpgHere’s a little bit of a random coincidence. I read a case today about mining in Timmins Ontario and wouldn’t you know it but I had a visitor today from, you guessed it, Timmins, Ontario. Now I’ll have more visitors from Timmins because I’ve just written Timmins, Ontario in this post about 6 times. I should stop being so juvenile.

I got the best shot of Chase’s teeth that I could. You can see all the little white ridges. She’s been fine about it well with the exception of waking ten times a night. I’m so exhausted. Sometimes I wake up and I don’t know how Read the rest of this entry »

Laugh Riot

1113.jpgI know it takes time for uploads to process on You Tube but I have to post when I can post or I’ll forget to get it up here. She was laughing so hard that her eyes were tearing. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree I guess. We officially retired the high chair in favor of a low profile booster. I found it on craig’s list. It came with a porch swing and a second booster seat.. I don’t know, for travel I suppose for 10 bucks. Now I just have to get daddy to hang the swing outside and we’re in business if we get another nice warm day like today. I don’t know where the best place to hang it is. I see most people’s swings on the front porch but I suppose we could put in on one of the back porches too. I’ll have to think about it. Read the rest of this entry »
