The Baltimore Sky Ramp to 95

Would you believe that not only did I not take a single picture today but I didn’t even turn my camera on? It just didn’t seem like a photograph kind of a day. This week is off to a slow start and if things keep moving at this pace it’s going to be a long week.

Baby girl slept until 10:30 this morning. I don’t know if it’s another growth spurt or what but I can also see the teeth adjacent to her two bottom guys coming up just beneath the surface. Maybe that has something to do with the craziness? That definitely had us off on the wrong foot this morning. For when I say that baby girl slept until 10:30 I mean that I did too. We had planned to leave by 12:00 to drive to Philly for Ben’s Aunt’s funeral. For what it’s worth we left very close to noon but Chase was crying and my head was splitting and that required a stop shortly thereafter. Read the rest of this entry »

Sleepiness

bunnygirl.jpgI wanted to title this ‘the least productive day ever’ but that woulnd’t be entirely true. ‘One of the least productive days ever’ would have been closer.’ I hate the way nothing gets done on Saturday and you say, oh, that’s ok because I still have a whole day tomorrow. That’s too much pressure for a Sunday and let’s face it, it never comes to fruition. The bathrooms aren’t cleaned, the laundry is half done and I’ve done reading for exactly one class this week. I try not to get down about it but it stinks. I did however manage to pay bills, groceries and various other errands. I can spend a hundred bucks, or two, or three like nobody’s business. It’s like those stores where you know that no matter what you go in and buy it will all total fifty dollars. That how it is for me. Any given shopping excursion will run my a hundred bucks which is why weeks where I have to make more than one trip out are scary. Strangely though, if I combine trips all on the same day- as a part of the same excursion then they’ll all add up to a hundred bucks together. It’s sort of safer that way. Sort of. Death & Taxes

mad-baby.jpgYou see how mad she is? When the mail carrier comes on Monday she’s going to look at my outgoing mail and shake her head because three, count ‘em, three envelopes are going out addressed to to director of finance of Baltimore City. Whoever he is is a real bastard I tell you. I don’t mind paying the surtax that covers trash collection and the like in our neighborhood but when I have to write that check on the same day I pay two, yes two, parking tickets I start to feel a little bitter! Two Things I’ve Put Off All Night

pursed-lips.jpgWriting this post and paying bills. I don’t know why I can’t bring myself to take care of these two small tasks but they are seriously plaguing me. Instead of doing either of those two things I’ve been sitting here reading other people’s posts. Sigh, if only I wasn’t such a terrible procrastinator.

Today was long. Not a bad day, just long. We went to our play date and it was great. We sat around and yakked and the babies played and Chase loved it because she was the oldest and biggest and she could boss all the little babies around. Then she sat at the table while we ate and quietly gnawed her piece of bread while we gossiped. You could just see her sucking it all in. Oh, so that’s how you talk crap, noted! Quiet in the Library

119.jpgI got yelled at today. By a librarian no less. Apparently the Enoch Pratt Free Library only allows patrons to renew materials once. I understand, there are a finite number of books and everyone is clamoring for them but give me a break. The circulation desk told me I had already renewed my books and that I’d have to get special permission from the department before I could take them out again. So I go ask the librarian. She looks taken aback and tells me she’ll need to check the shelves. She goes off I guess to check how many other digital photography books are on the shelves while I wait and Read the rest of this entry »

Pomp and Circumstance

psst-dog.jpgPsst! (Chase, whispering) Hey, dog! Psst! Knock those cookies down to me and I’ll share half with you.

(Dog, incapable of whispering) Which cookies? The Liver Snaps or that organic animal cracker crap?

(Chase, rolling her eyes) Oh, great. Now you’ve gotten us both busted. I’ll remember this. Watch your tail. Did I say tail? I meant back, yes, that’s it back. Read the rest of this entry »

Mahogany Wings

dsc_0085.jpgI was looking for a recipe to get me out of my chicken rut when I remember this recipe for mahogany wings in Mae Adams’ Raves n’ Craves. Sometimes I think my sister and I are the only two people out there with this book. Well, I guess my aunt Klari would have it too but I’ve certainly never run into a stranger who suggested one of her recipes to me. Which is unfortunate since they are all very good. Most of the pages in the book are spattered badly with grease and for good reason because they get plenty of use. Her recipes are all very consistent and always turn out exactly as promised per the instructions. Read the rest of this entry »

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

dsc_0065.jpgEverybody’s talking about it. At our house, we have a really hard time recycling. I won’t tell you why exactly. Suffice it to say that we are well intentioned but not that effective. We have quite a large pile of recyclables that have yet to actually be recycled and I’m beginning to doubt ever will in spite of the fact that the city comes right down the alley to pick them up. Sometimes stuff gets out but sometimes the pile just becomes so untenable that I have to put a temporary moratorium on the piling of some recyclables. I was feeling kind of down about this so I took some time to think of some other ways that our family tries to contribute. Most, but not all, of our efforts fall Read the rest of this entry »

But It’s Staring Right at Me

peek-a-boo.jpgAnd I was able to get my video uploaded. It’s not my best work but I do get a kick out of how scared the dogs were of that stupid puzzle. In any event, if anyone should feel so inclined as to send me an awesome compact video camera with some kind of removable memory for easy interfacing with my computer that would be just awesome.

Doing my rounds this morning I came upon this. I am already loving it. I’ve already met a handful of lovely people. In addition, I have added a number of pages to the list of those I visit daily which is great because I spend a lot of time at the computer and: Read the rest of this entry »
