How come as soon as the semester starts time starts to fly.  It’s unreal I mean it’s already Wednesday.  I haven’t picked up my camera in days as you can see.  The good news is that so far I think that my classes will actually be interesting i.e. not totally draining and impossible to get up for.  You can’t beat that.  Not to mention that I shipped off my bar application today.  I’m so glad that’s out of my hair for now.  Talk about hanging over your head.  I even managed to get some other stuff off my plate this evening.   I haven’t done my reading for tomorrow but you know, whatever.  I’ll get over the hump and the pieces will start to fall into place some time next week by my estimation.  Continue

You want to know how many Comp USA’s I visited today?  Two but the first one earned two visits, one on either side of a trip to Target.  Can I just say that I find computer stores exhausting.  Well, let me add the caveat that I find them exhausting unless we’re buying computer stuff for me but that wasn’t the case today.  We had a great visit with Nadia and Jason and pizza at Bertucci’s.  Without calling attention to my plan I secretly ordered the opposite of what I would have ordinarily suggested.  I’m surprised Ben didn’t say anything about it although he was probably more happy than confused that I picked toppings that he likes. 112.JPGSometimes I find a few minutes in the course of a day to do something. I say something because I don’t often know what to fill the time with and often just fritter away the few precious minutes. I had a few of those stolen moments to myself today and thought hey, why not do a post? That’s when I discovered something very curious. It appears that blogging is something I can only do at night. Even though I’ve been keeping a mental list of things to write about I just couldn’t seem to pull my thoughts together. So I put is aside and came back to it tonight and it flows much easier. cupcake.JPGIn this month’s Living Martha has a how to on making animal duo-tone print cards. Chase’s birthday thank yous are a rif on this idea. I stopped by the stationers and picked up some colored card stock and have been hard at work ever since. I’m quite pleased with the results and hopefully I can get them in the mail within a reasonable period of time. I’ll tell you, our little printer is a real workhorse. Continue

pensive.JPGEveryone is gone, the house is quiet and I’m trying to catch up on work that I’ve been neglecting. I think even Chase is wondering what’s up with all the silence. The good news is that the weather is still beautiful and we’ve been taking full advantage. I truly believe that we have all experienced improved moods since the weather got warm and sunny. Even Ben noticed that everyone seems just a little perkier.

Chase’s first birthday came and went and along with it a lot of changes. On Sunday night Chase made for the stairs and climbed all the way to the top and was just as proud of herself as can be. This means new things for her new play set because she can climb up and go down the slide by herself and she’s pretty excited about that too. I think she’ll walk very soon but if she goes about walking the way she’s done everything else there probably won’t be much of a warning. Continue

1607.JPGSo the mystery has been unraveled. But let me start at the beginning. Chase’s had a wonderful birthday. There were aunts and great aunts and lots of friends here to celebrate. Poor thing though was just so tired by cake time that she was totally overwhelmed and just absolutely refused to even taste it. Initially I had wanted to bake the cake myself as a giant cupcake I even went so far as to bake a test cake but or course I just ran out of time. So on Saturday I went out and bought the most beautiful small cake for Chase to smash at Whole Foods Continue

bday.JPGWhat a crazy day! We’re all exhausted there was a lot going on here today. Chase had a lot of fun. So much fun that by cake time she was ready for sleep. There’s a lot more to tell but I’ll have to do it when there are less people here waiting on me :) I’ll just say that it was fun, Chase had a good time, and I only thought about going to the emergency room very briefly after which I calmly put Chase down for a nap, bathed her and played a little. She’s fine, turns out it was just fatigue and a little red icing.

I lost my sense of taste :(  so I can’t report as to the test cake though other testers report that it’s passable.  Have you ever made buttercream frosting before?  A whole pound of butter it took, a whole pound and I can’t even taste it!  There’s just over an hour until Chase is officially one and things are already getting a little hectic over here.  My sister arrives tomorrow so things can really start to get underway.

Send get well vibes!  I need all my faculties about me.

dsc_0011.JPGChelsea put this question to me and I got to thinking… why do I? I remember back when I was totally innocent to the blogosphere. I used to sit behind this girl in comparitive law who subscribed to bloglines and would read and knit under her desk in class everyday. It’s too bad I wasn’t interested then, she was probably cool. In spite of the fact that I have yet to really investigate what bloglines is I have a general grasp of the service even though I don’t use it but that’s beside the point. Back to this girl, I thought she was just using informational type websites for knitting advice but in retrospect she was probably keeping up with other knitters’ projects and possibly even updating her own blog with progress on her own projects as I suspect she finished many and wore them often.

This is all to say that the main reason that I now read other people’s blogs is for inspiration. There are wonderful ideas out there for all kinds of projects either to try or to provide creative fodder for springboarding to some idea of your own.

Of course some blogs I read belong to people I know and it’s nice to keep up with what’s going on with everybody and to know what’s on their minds. Continue
