I should have called this a month of Sundays. Sigh, I vowed that this week I’d actually post on Sunday but this is all about the speed I’m moving these days. So, instead of feeling bad about it, I’m just going to focus on getting in one post a week. My goal is to focus on that and feeling ok about it. I’ve been doing a lot of nothing. Well, not nothing exactly. I’ve been working and taking care of everyone and making sure everyone has clean underwear. That kind of stuff. That being said, I haven’t touched anything even remotely creative in weeks. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back on the horse pretty soon.
It’s been raining since Sunday but before the clouds rolled in we did get some nice weather on Saturday. We spent some time out back blowing bubbles. It’s just plain old dish soap and water this time which works just fine for bubble blowing. We puttered around the yard for a while. The beds are nice and green. It’s time to thin the lettuce but I didn’t get to it this weekend and with all the rain who knows what’s out there now. The peas and radishes are also in full swing. Somehow we’ve got a rogue pea mixed in with the lettuce. I don’t know exactly how that happened but I have some ideas.
Other happy things about May? There are NC strawberries at the farmer’s market which means that locals aren’t far behind. I also brought home some asparagus and rhubarb. There are some nice recipes for rhubarb in this month’s Everyday Food. I hope to get around to trying some if not all of them. Particularly the rhubarb crumb bars. It looks yum.
