Shorts and gauchos that is. I stitched both of these tonight instead of watching tv although I did keep it on at, what is probably, an inappropriately loud level to keep me company. See, now these pants are called gouchos. So in 10 years, Chase won’t say things to her friends like ‘my mom made me wear culottes’ …right?

It took me a while (a long while) to figure out what to do with this empty wall in Chase’s room. After 6 months of preschool however, it suddenly became clear. The artwork was piling up all over the place. The fridge is covered and recently I put a bunch of pieces away in a big envelope for later which didn’t feel quite right either. One of my most powerful motivators to make dinner is a good idea (aka a craving). Last night I tuned in to an episode of Throwdown with Bobby Flay who, incidentally, I have decided isn’t a total jerk that I can’t stand to watch on tv. I am also notoriously susceptible to pasta related cravings. Usually it has to do with something Lidia is making but since PBS cooking shows are on some kind of permanent hiatus I have to turn elsewhere. Read the rest of this entry »

Seriously, I still haven’t put in the hem or closed up the elastic casing but the whole thing is very nearly almost done. Definitely by the weekend. I’m really digging all the red. I think it’s a good color for Chase. I think she doesn’t wear enough of it and I don’t know how I didn’t notice sooner.
I worked on these shorts all afternoon. I cut them earlier this week or maybe last week so the actual construction took about 2 and a half hours or so maybe a little less than that. Read the rest of this entry »
