Felt Crowns

pepitamady1Look at those faces!  This weekend was too much fun.  It was the official weekend of birthday parties.  We spent the WHOLE day on Saturday eating cake and candy, running and screaming, moon bouncing and all other manner of party craziness.  I didn’t do so much running and screaming, mainly because after party round 1 I was totally beat.  It took me all day Sunday to recover and I still had to go to bed early.  Chase has amazing stamina.

Filling In

My buddy Kayris, another Baltimore mom, is enjoying the beach this week and asked me to write a guest post for her blog while she’s gone.  I won’t cross post is on my site but you can visit her blog to read it here.  I hope it puts you in the mood to hit your local market this weekend and don’t forget this weekend kicks off the Maryland State Fair.

While you’re there check out the posts by the other guest bloggers she had this week and check out her other posts too.  Especially the ones about menu planning which she is particularly good at.

Thinking About Pizza and Singing a Song

library-2315That’s what I was doing when I drove to Bowie instead of getting on 97 after the Bay Bridge.  It’s not even like I didn’t have time to get over for the exit, I never even saw the signs.  That’s ok though because I did ultimately get the pizza.  I’m still loving Iggie’s even though Ben refuses to compromise with me and make it our standard pizza for eat in or takeout.  He’s in love with the memory of a delicious pizza that we just can’t find anywhere.  Real, greasy, street food type pizza.  I just don’t think there’s anything that truly fits that description anywhere near our house but he keeps searching. Pink Pixie Hood

library-2303I love to knit hats.  Probably because they’re quick and easy.  I borrowed Baby Beanies by Amanda Keeys from the library but wanted to try so many of the hats that I decided to buy it.  I have come to accept that I need to just buy some books outright because by the time I return them to the library I inevitably owe as much as it would cost to buy in fines.  There are tons of books out there with so many cute ideas but this one leans toward simple which is just right for me.   Read the rest of this entry »

Quick Weeknight Dinner :: Baked Shrimp with Remoulade

library-2284While we were away a couple of weeks ago I copied down a couple of recipes from a magazine I found where we were staying.  I’ve never picked up an issue of Cuisine at Home but it had some easy recipes that appealed to me.  When I got home, I checked their website to see what they had to offer there.  I don’t usually sign up for these kinds of things but decided to try it out.  It’s one of those deals where you get a weekly email with a couple of recipes.  This is the first one I’ve cooked from but the recipes have all looked rather tasty.   Read the rest of this entry »

Market Weekend

library-2269I woke up with the sun this morning.  I finally stopped fighting it, got out of bed, made myself a cup of decaf, but still no signs of life from upstairs.  Left to my own defenses I came up with a list of things to do and convinced myself that I was up for another market run.  We used to go to the downtown market a lot but for the last year or two have switched to a walkable market Read the rest of this entry »

Stuff and Junk

I needed some retail therapy this week.  Just a little to take my mind off of work.  Sometimes you just need to get lost in the aisles you know?  So I spent two lunch breaks at Joann which turns out to be totally doable from my office and spent some time at the mall today.  The mall is a dangerous place.  I hadn’t been there in a long long time but then broke the seal last week when I went in for a maternity suit.  Did I tell you about that?  Yeah, not a bathing suit, a full on jacket and skirt type of get up for court.  It’s not awesome,it’s just Read the rest of this entry »

Project :: Fat Quarter Diaper Changing Pad

library-2232I was going to title this post cloth diaper changing pad but I couldn’t figure out how to place or not place hyphens so that it didn’t sound like a pad for changing cloth diapers instead of a changing pad made out of cloth.  Grammar is so tricky.  Then, my camera wanted to be tricky.  I had exactly enough battery power left in my flash to take exactly two pictures.  My flash batteries always disappear very suspiciously.  When questioned, Ben said, No, he didn’t know where he could find me a set of batteries.  However, upon further probing, it appears that he Read the rest of this entry »

My Proud New Lawyer Moment

I can complain.  I like to complain about work and I spent a good part of the week complaining about jury duty.  Yesterday, was a perfect storm of complaints about both (dear friends, sorry and thanks).  In the end, I wasn’t needed today to serve jury duty but that meant I had to appear in court to cover something for work.  Fine, right?  It wasn’t going to take long and relative to sitting in the jury assembly room for 8 hours it seems Read the rest of this entry »

We’re Back

library-2184I feel like I’ve been gone from here forever.  We were away for a much needed week of r and r and it was fantastic!  We were a little nervous about the 8 hours of driving but it ended up being fine, we didn’t even have to break out the dvd player.  We passed the time yelling out cows!  Horses!  Big red barn!  We practically got whiplash through Genesee County.  Overall, it was a nice trip.  The weather wasn’t great but we did get in some nice beach and family time.   Read the rest of this entry »
