I totally did it! The nightie is complete but I don’t know why I bothered. It was a lot harder than this easy pattern should have been. I used McCalls 4505 and used view A for the simple slip. It wasn’t difficult for any fault of the pattern and it wasn’t even because I’m not feeling 100% or tired. I actually really liked the pattern and will definitely use it again. It was purely a result of fabric selection. I know now that I NEED Sandra Betzina’s book Fabric Savvy I can’t afford to keep taking it out of the library. Read the rest of this entry »

Meanwhile, I went to bed last night at 6pm so I didn’t do any cutting on my pj project for the sew-along. I feel marginally better tonight but I don’t want to push it. It may just not be in the cards.

De-Stashing Giveaway!!
It is with great excitement, and some shame, that I bring this to you. I realize it’s kind of late in the game to get the ball rolling on the pyjama party sew-along but anytime is a good time for pyjamas really. Which is probably partly why I have not one, not two, but three copies of Simplicity pattern number 2900. It’s a reissue of a vintage pattern from 1952 for a layette. The reason that i have three is also probably partly because I am partial to slip like things as nighties but I think I’ll be ok with just the one pattern. So the other two are all you! This Weekend
As of Friday I was unsure but the verdict is in. Best 5 day weekend ever. I feel like I had enough energy to get some projects done AND enjoy doing them. I managed to put some pickles up. These babies probably cost more than it would to buy them considering the first 7 pounds of cukes I had didn’t make it. These came home from the market yesterday and were safely in their jars within 24 hours. That’s my window if they sit in the fridge any longer than that they’re goners. Read the rest of this entry »

Sweet Jumper :: New Look 0557
I bought this pattern after seeing it put together on a display at the fabric store. It’s a simple and sweet jumper, nothing too fancy but there’s something really special about it. It has a little bit of a vintage feel to it. I think it has something to do with the length. I love it, I think it’s super sweet and I’m going to make another one tonight… or tomorrow with owls! Happy Friday
I love Fridays. I love Fridays ahead of long weekends especially. I’m going to try to make the most of this one. We’ll see how it goes. I don’t have anything specific planned for the weekend so it’s kind of a toss up as to how it will turn out. We always seem to manage to come up with something to do. Taking It Easy
Aside from a quick appearance in court this morning that’s what we did today. I hope that taking it kind of slow today will keep the sickness at bay. I definitely feel better today than I did yesterday. The sore throat doesn’t seem to be threatening anymore and C seems to be in good shape too. Fake It Don’t Make It Stuffed Shells
I can’t explain what the box of giant shells was doing in the cupboard. At some point I must have thought that stuffed shells were a good idea but I can’t imagine why. So after looking at them for several months I pulled them down. Great. Except I didn’t have any ricotta cheese. A Half Bushel of Apples
It’s the biggest basket you can buy at the market. I’m holding off on apple picking until a little later in the season when some of my favs will be ripe. For now, I’m working my way through a big ol’ sack of jonathans from this week’s market. So far I’ve cranked out a giant vat of apple sauce for the freezer and an apple crisp.
