A Half Bushel of Apples

2009-2717It’s the biggest basket you can buy at the market.  I’m holding off on apple picking until a little later in the season when some of my favs will be ripe.  For now, I’m working my way through a big ol’ sack of jonathans from this week’s market.  So far I’ve cranked out a giant vat of apple sauce for the freezer and an apple crisp.  I have two crusts in the fridge ready for hand pies tomorrow.  I think I’ll make another recipe for a 2 crust pie and use it to make two full sized crumb topped pies.  The rest I think we’ll be able to manage just eating out of hand or maybe spread with a little peanut butter.  My industriousness is in no small part due to this awesome peeler.  It makes quick work of tons of apples AND is fun to use.

library-8087I finished the Boots mask prototype.  It’s hideous.  I have to scrap it.  It bears no resemblance to Boots and I have no thoughts about how to improve it.  The eyes need work but even if I improve them it won’t make the mask look anymore Boots like.  She likes it though so I guess I can claim success as far as that goes at least.  Lord knows she doesn’t hesitate to tell me when she doesn’t like something.  At least I managed to cut the loose threads off.  I don’t think it’s going to go much farther than that.

So I started to write this and it turns out I’m really tired and my back hurts.  I’m trying to be brave here but I think I have a cold creeping in.  Chase has a runny nose and a little bit of a cough.  We went to Chipotle the other day and shared some juice.  I think that was a mistake.  Beyond wiping her nose and having her cough on me in general that is.  I really don’t want to have a cold.  I don’t have enough energy to go around as it is.

How was your weekend?  Did you enjoy the beautiful weather?  We did.
