So I think we love Halloween around here just a little bit. It comes as a little bit of a surprise because it never meant much to me and Ben has this deep seated moral opposition to all “made up” holidays. Popcorn!
Sorry if I’ve been a bit neglectful. I’ve come down with something and have spent the last couple of days more or less being a slug. I hate being sick while I’m pregnant because I worry about all kinds of things I wouldn’t otherwise worry about. Of course, that doesn’t mean I call my ob to put my mind at ease. It means I go back and forth between worrying that something’s wrong and wondering if I’m overreacting. Makes me feel like a maniac. 5 Bucks and 20 Minutes
And no one will ever see that plumber’s butt again, cute as it might be. We’re in some kind of size limbo. Chase is stuck somewhere between a 2t and a 3t for pants. Somehow a 2t is too small and a 3t just won’t stay up. Well, no more! Now I can cinch them up tight.
These were quick and easy to make. Just the way I like it. I’m not really supposed to be working on any projects because a) I have to finish up Chase’s costume in time for the big day b) I have last minute party details to think about and c) There are some personal finance matters that I have to attend to. Booo. That’s all I have to say about that. But I let myself make these because they really only took 20 minutes inclusive of the time it took me to run into Joann to grab the webbing. The Great Pumpkin
We hit the pumpkin patch today. Not the best idea after a day of torrential downpours but we made the most of it. Plus, I wasn’t that lady that wiped out in the mud. Nope, not this time.
I had one of those grass is always greener moments and decided to try North Run instead of just going to Webber’s. That was a mistake. Now I know better and also feel compelled to go to Webber’s before it closes for the season. I’ll probably try to squeeze in another visit sometime this week against my better judgment. Dry Run
I wish I could wait for the big unveiling but I am seriously excited about this costume. We had our first fitting today. I was truly convinced that C would take one look at it and say, um, what is that? Somehow though she knew right away oh, it’s a popcorn box. Also sometimes referred to as a popcorn bag. Random Thoughts at 31 Weeks
So I think I posted pictures every other week with Chase and this time… not so much. I figured it was about time for a little progress report. There’s a lot going on in there. Sometimes kind of painful but in weird places like way down in my pelvis or right on top of my bladder. Maybe she decided to turn a little? Dare I dream? Meanwhile, I’m slow and lumbering. I always start out strong in the morning but by 7 or so there’s just nothing left. My back hurts and I’m crabby. Ben loves it. Fear of Commitment

Sunday Pot Roast
This dish might be the perfect wrap up to a cold and rainy weekend. I did a little poking around on the internet and came up with this from Elise at Simply Recipes. It’s good, really good. I’ve never truly studied the technique so I was skeptical about being able to braise an entire roast using only a half cup of liquid but it works. I used my biggest pot and it worked just fine in the oven. Although I did find that I had to keep the oven set at 300 to maintain a simmer. My pot worked fine but now my desire for an enamel cast iron dutch oven is rekindled. My birthday and Christmas are coming up. Good timing, no? Read the rest of this entry »
