I’m A Big Girl Now

library-4161In more ways than one.  You know what?  I don’t feel any different being on this side of 30.  Of course, there just wasn’t any time to worry about it.  Meanwhile, I’ve started blowing up like the stay puff marshmallow man.  I’ve gained 7 lbs in the last two weeks.  My hands, feet and face are starting to swell and my blood pressure is creeping up.  I went in for a routine ob appointment today and ended up spending the whole afternoon at labor and delivery being monitored until my blood pressure stabilized.  I have to go back now twice a week for additional follow up.  That’s way more time than I want to spend at the hospital during my last two weeks.  It kind of stinks but I’m glad that everything with baby girl looks good.

library-374So about the big Thanksgiving/birthday goings on.  This year we hosted at our place.  That was a lot of work.  I don’t know how it was for other people but as much fun as it was having everybody here, the actual eating part felt so rushed to me.  I can hardly remember it.  Also, I put virtually no thought into setting the table.  Not a great approach considering that the table cloth ended up library-384looking pretty wrinkly and the getting to the table rush phase is not a good time to start counting dishes.  It ended up being fine but next time I’ll have to think it through a little more carefully.  I guess the food was ok, though I remember little to nothing about it.  Chase was all business about dinner.  She just kept working on it.  She never even noticed that the table had cleared out around her.  She earned herself two slices of chocolate cream pie.

All in all it was a good day.  It was nice to have people stay over and I had absolutely NO idea that our friends were coming into town to surprise me for the weekend.  That was pretty amazing!  The kids had such a good time and really did hold it together quite well in spite of how busy the weekend was.  We hit the zoo and the aquarium and had tons of fun.

Happy Birthday! 30 didn’t feel any different than 29 to me either, I don’t know why I thought it would. 31 was actually harder, because it means you’re finally a “30-something.”

Happy Birthday! My OMG I’m old was at 29 (“pushing 30″). Then I got over it and 30 was no big deal. Neither was 40, as I recall.
