I took this picture outside today using the camera on the new phone. We have finally arrive in the 21st century! We put off upgrading to smart phones for so long because neither one of us wanted to deal with switching service providers. I’m beginning to realize that I have some significant ‘fear of the unknown’ issues. In any event, with the arrival of the new Verizon android, we decided to take the plunge. It’s kind of fun. Mmm, Pie
Don’t worry, I didn’t do anything crazy like make my own pie crust. This is the quick and dirty ready at 10 version of pie but it was so worth it. GAWD, this pie is good or maybe even lawdy. Yes, it’s that good. Even Ben is eating it and was dancing around asking when it would be ready and he is notoriously anti fruit dessert.
My friend Melanie mentioned this recipe to me. I think she made it herself but I never followed up to find out how it turned out. The beauty of it is, that assuming you make your own crust, you can get two pies out of the single recipe rather than just one. Read the rest of this entry »

Chicken and Dumplings
Between helping Ben through this morning’s fender bender, making more estimate appointments and being productive at work I managed to work in some time to research this idea for dinner. A Little Follow Up
Remember that de-stashing giveaway I had a while back? One of those cool patterns went to Erin who sent me this picture as a little update. How cute? I’m so glad that she put it to good use and right away too! She keeps asking me questions to throw me off her scent but the girl can sew! She made this as a cute gift for her adorable niece Laura. Just One More Day of Orange
They finally came and way in advance of the worst case scenario end of November estimate. They do that to make you feel fantastic when they ship four weeks early don’t they? So I like! And I’m glad we went with orange. Do you see why I didn’t want to bother with matching wood now? What a pain. I’m not great at staging pictures. I took a bunch and this was one of the only shots without a dog butt in it. I trip on them and step on them and they persist with being constantly underfoot. Our kitchen is also crazy hard to shoot. It’s a small square room with a narrow hallway in one corner with the opening partly eclipsed by pantry shelves. If you stand in the dog bed and lean just so you can kind of get your shot.
