One of our projects today was sponge stamping. I finally broke down and called my gp for advice on what to do and she called in antibiotics for me. While I was at Safeway (best pharmacy ever!) I picked up a four pack of sponges for $1.50. They were pretty much the only thing left in the store. There was nary an onion in the produce section. Why the onions? Onions and peppers. I guess everyone is making… I don’t know what while they’re snowed in. That’s all I’m going to say about the snow. I don’t even want to talk about it anymore. So phases 1 and 2 of operation valentine are complete. I took those four sponges and cut them into various shapes using scissors. For the first round we did a big heart and little heart, a mouse and a lollipop. Since then we’ve added a candy, a star and a flower that we’ll try tomorrow. Then Chase stamped the shapes onto cardstock using tempra paint.
Phase 2 involved me figuring out how to turn her freeform stamping into valentines. Some of them, like the small hearts pictured above, I’ll cut down into traditional card shapes and some others I’ll cut out around the shapes to make smaller child-sized cards. It was a lot of fun and I’m actually looking forward to trying it again tomorrow. I was thinking it was a pretty big bargain at $1.50 but that doesn’t account for the cost of the paint and the paper. Still a pretty good deal though and fun to boot.
So that’s what we did today. Along with this:
Which turned into this:
With all of that activity how was there still time to log HOURS of tv watching? Oh, and I didn’t even mention our walk to CVS. Crazy. Well, I did my best. Another day snowed in tomorrow. Wish us luck.
