This Week’s Menu Roundup

Monday we had  Spaghetti with tuna, lemons and breadcrumbs.  This was a super quick and yummy dinner.  I mostly keep lemon and tuna on hand.  This is a ‘we have no excuse to order out’ dinner.  Sometimes I make up pasta dishes that are kind of like this.  Kind of but not nearly as tasty.  This is a recipe worth keeping around.  I never think about or take the time to toast breadcrumbs but they make an otherwise plain dish of pasta oh so delicious.   Read the rest of this entry »

Yay!

My whole day was great because I woke up this morning to an email from the folks at One Yard Wonders telling me that the project I submitted is going to be in the next book!.  I’m really, really happy and excited about that.  I can’t wait for my new fabric to get here and to get started on my book sample! A Tale Of Two Scones

I love scones.  I wish there were still some leftover from this morning.  I’m regretting offering one to Ben this morning and letting Chase have a second one this afternoon.  Here’s my dilemma.  I have an old and faithful recipe that I always use (Gosh, just scroll down for the recipe.  Reading your own writing must be a little like listening to a recording of your own voice).  The recipe makes yummy delicious scones just the way I like them… Read the rest of this entry »

Friendly Trolls

We borrowed The Three Billy Goats Gruff from the library a few weeks ago.  Anybody who’s been at the park with Chase since then knows that trolls and billy goats gets acted out a lot.  While I was sitting on the couch last night, pretending that I didn’t need to be in bed, I thought that making little trolls might be a fun rainy day activity.   Read the rest of this entry »

Dinner This Week

I’m totally on a roll here. Well, except for the weekends. Apparently I don’t cook on weekends anymore. I was patting myself on the back for not going out to dinner even once this week. Of course, we went out to lunch not twice, not thrice but FOUR times since Thursday. Sigh. That kind of negates all of my hard work with dinner. At least Thursday and Friday’s lunches weren’t crazy over the top. Read the rest of this entry »

Spring Cleaning

We’re the sloppiest, slobbiest people I know.  I cut myself some slack because when cleaning gets done it’s most often done by me.  Ben, on the other hand, just makes messes.  Starts projects but doesn’t finish them, you know, stuff like that.  In any event, today marks the big annual yard clean up. Treats For Everybody

We spent all morning visiting a preschool that we’re considering for next year.  Chase had a great time which, I suppose, is really what counts.  I was thoroughly exhausted, she wanted to stay and play.  After that we ran some errands Read the rest of this entry »

Red Letter Day

For all of us.  Avery is big enough to use the exersaucer and I can tell that a) she finds it incredibly exciting and b) she feels like a big girl using her toes to spin herself around.  She particularly likes to press the buttons and she didn’t even need to wait for her big sister to show her how. Projects

I just finished cutting out a new pair of comfy pants for myself.  I don’t typically sew for myself.  I lose interest too quickly in projects that aren’t finished in a day or two.  I have plenty of other sewing projects on my to do list but right now what’s important is getting back into the habit now that bedtime appears to be fairly established.   Read the rest of this entry »

Back At It

More park pictures!  Chase doesn’t get to see her friend from school all that often but when she does she sure does make the most of it.  Lots of running, sliding and digging in the sandbox.  And when, as it so often happens in Smalltimore, another friend comes running up?  Well that’s just the icing on the cake.   Read the rest of this entry »
