Happy Easter

I really do love Easter.  We don’t go to church or do any of that stuff that you’re really supposed to but I love it all the same.  It was always a holiday when we had a special kind of a get together.  Plus I love Easter chocolate.  I don’t know, there’s something really special about the way the ears of a chocolate bunny taste.  This year was particularly special because my Aunt and Uncle came to visit and spend Easter with us.  Chase was particularly thrilled.  So much attention.  The best Easter I could hope for for my kiddies.  We dyed eggs and Chase decided to embellish them a little with a few stickers.  I did forget that it would be a little trickier to dye brown eggs rather than white ones but Chase didn’t seem to care at all and I thought they looked pretty.  We’ve been gobbling them up ever since.  It’s one of the few healthful foods Chase likes to pick that’s NOT peanut butter.  Today it was the part of her lunch that made me feel kind of ok that she requested a jam only sandwich today for lunch.  Try to rationalize that one without a little something on the side.

So as of Saturday afternoon I didn’t have a stitch of candy in the house but Aunt and Uncle Easter bunny came bearing gifts.  Chase had a proper Easter complete with a giant egg filled with Smarties.  I was however prepared with a special treat for her in the event that she decided to leave her pacifier for the Easter bunny, remember?  Well, she didn’t.  She fought the good fight but in the end (about 10 o’clock) she just couldn’t do it.  Part of me thinks that she’s just not ready and part of me thinks that maybe she could have done it if she hadn’t fallen asleep for an hour in the afternoon.  Any amount of sleep during the day totally destroys bed time.  Even as little as 20 minutes will turn everything upside down.  I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to try again successfully sooner rather than later. I’m saving the surprise but maybe I’ll tell her about it as an incentive.  I don’t know.

But I was talking about candy.  I went to Whole Foods last week on Thursday and spotted this delicious looking chocolate bunny.  So I picked it up and looked it over.  I noticed that it was made by Lake Champlain Chocolates and started feeling all nostalgic.  It’s not that I’ve ever tasted their stuff before but Lake Champlain isn’t too far from where I spent most summers and so, you know… I wanted the bunny.  But I resisted.  I put it back, checked out and went on my merry way but I wanted it.  I thought about the bunny all week.  So by Saturday I was ready to commit.  Chase got the bunny and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

The girls also got frickin’ adorable matching dresses and headbands.  Chase went from having no summer dresses to having a nice little selection to choose from.  So thoughtful.

At the end of the weekend we had some nice family time and the girls loved their bunnies.
