Did you have a nice weekend? I did. I kind of like these crazy busy, no time to sit down weekends in spite of the fact that I got not a speck of cleaning done. Maybe a load of laundry got washed. That’s about it.
Oh, but I did take a nice long nap with Avery Saturday afternoon. So, I guess I did sit down a little. I tend to start feeling resentful when it starts to feel like I never get a break. It’s something I’m trying to work on. It’s something I don’t communicate about very well. So poorly in fact, that even though I start to resent Ben, I also have to acknowledge that it’s really something of my own problem. So we’re both trying to work on it. So I read for a while and then we had a little nap late in the afternoon. That was pretty nice.
Then on Sunday morning I got out for a couple of hours. Shannon took me to one of her favorite thrift stores that has all kinds of good stuff. It was a good thing we brought Avery along because we were one headkerchief away from getting all Thelma and Louise. Or maybe one venti iced coffee, one rice krispie treat? Either way, the freedom was nice. Ok, so here are the spoils:
A Pat Burrell jersey (which Ben says is ok, thankfully), a lite brite, and rollerskates (for which I paid the exorbitant amount of five dollars and ninety cents… the only item not half price.)!! But wait, there’s more! Guess what’s under that rollerskate!
Crazy right? I bet if I google it, I’ll turn up some crazy Las Vegas dive or some seniors association but it’s still funny. I was going to make it into a shirt for one of the littles but then Danielle pointed out that i might not want to dress my kids in a shirt that says butt. How come that didn’t occur to either of us earlier? It really seemed like a good idea at the time. So now I have to think about it. We took a picture with my phone. We’re looking happy because this was after we threw our giant sacks of stuff into the trunk and stopped for some caffeinated refreshment. So there we are in all our Thelma & Louise glory.
Hmm, this is kind of getting long so I’ll wrap it up. After a quick freshen up at home I took Chase to the central library for their annual fairytale extravaganza. She didn’t want to miss Princess P. It was great. She waited in a not too long line to have her picture taken and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the souvenir pictures were f-r-e-e! Mostly because I couldn’t get a decent picture with my own camera. She was pretty excited. I told her to stand up against the wall so I could take a picture of her but she wouldn’t stop craning her neck long enough for me to get a shot. Finally, it was her turn. No, I don’t know why she’s a giant. :) We got a pretty good fridge magnet souvenir.
There were snacks and there was music and all of our favorite librarians were there and some friends too! The kids slowed down long enough to say hi and eat some animal crackers but, as always, not long enough to take a picture. So, what did you get up to??
