Rocker Restyle

I finally finished this project.  You probably have one of these guys at home  It’s a great chair, probably relatively inexpensive and quite sturdy.  The problem with these guys is that they come in four shades of hideous.  Functional but a little too brown and scratchy.  It’s really such an easy project that I should have done it, oh say, about three years ago.  Anyone who can sew in a straight line can do this.  I’m definitely going to post a tutorial about this.

I’m so happy with the way it looks and feels now.  I just can’t believe how long it took me to do it.

The whole “sewing in a straight line” thing is really speaking to me :) Just my skill level. I’ve actually been avoiding one of these chairs because the covers are so damn ugly and now I’m reconsidering!! Scott’s mom has a rocking chair for us, but if that doesn’t work out maybe I’ll pick up a glider on craigslist and put some new fabric on it! Yours looks really nice.

Yeah, it seems like the chairs are all the same but unless you shell out the big bucks you get a crazy ugly cushion.

Looks great, Steph! It looks like you needed to sew in a curved line as well. :) That part may be too advanced for me. The glider we bought on CL 4+ years ago had slipcovers made for it, but I like yours a lot better. This inspires me to *perhaps* make some improvements to the ones on there so that the opening stays closed better.

I heard that you had natural talent! You could totally handle this. You should be perusing CL right now for a machine if you don’t already have one!
