Crazy Monkeys

The last 24 hours here have been a little crazy.  Some time yesterday Avery started practicing rolling over back to front.  She’s done it before but I mean really practicing.  Like over and over again.  Then some time around 5 this morning she decided to practice again.   Read the rest of this entry »

A Little Peek

Almost done. Only one more shelf to assemble. Then all I have left to to do is to organize the heaps of toys. You’d think that 12 giant bins would be enough… we shall see.

It’s only a mildly disturbing picture of an infant holding a tiny wine glass (they’re on clearance at IKEA for $1.99).  She said it had good terroir.  Not really.  She mostly just screamed into the cup to hear her voice amplified.   Read the rest of this entry »

Junior Explorers?

Magnifying glasses?  Sometimes it’s better just not to ask.  Mostly because asking questions like that always turns their attention from whatever they’re busy doing back to me but also because… well, what on earth?   Read the rest of this entry »

Anti Anxiety

I never got around to writing down the story of Avery’s birth and only seven short months later I find that I can hardly remember some of the bigger details.  I tried to recall parts of it today and found myself repeating I thought… I thought until I finally just had to admit that I just couldn’t remember what I was thinking anymore.  I guess that’s how it goes.   Read the rest of this entry »

They Strike Again

Trolls, trolls every day.  I promised Chase yesterday that we could make cupcakes today.  We turned them into get well cupcakes with troll cupcake toppers.  This troll thing has been going on for an unbelievably long time.   Read the rest of this entry »

Peter Piper

Let’s just all go ahead and cross pickle packer off my list of potential careers.  Why do I torture myself with pickle making??  My house smells like hot vinegar.  Probably because I’m boiling a giant pot of it.  There are dill fronds all over the kitchen.  …back to slaving over the stove making pickles that I’ll never eat.

I would love to know how it’s 9:30 already.  Ridiculous I tell you.  I felt like I was on a roll coming out of yesterday so I was going to attempt pickles tonight but that’s not going to happen.

I have a real love hate thing going on with pickles.  My grandmother made such good pickles and I just can’t seem to duplicate them.  This will be the third year that I try them.  If they don’t turn out that’s it.  I’ll wave the white flag.   Read the rest of this entry »

One batch down one to go. I kind of hated taking the first of my semi annual jam photos. There just aren’t that many ways to take pictures of jam. Also, this is the first day of the ice cream social sew along. I really have to get cracking.  (The sidebar button links to the Flickr pool, lots of good ideas.)

So Big

Not too much going on around these parts.  Avery is shaking things up a bit.  Throwing her body all over the place to get from sitting to her belly.  No big head bruises yet, so far so good.  She also finally rolled from back to front unassisted a few days ago.  I wonder what else she has in the works.  (Seen here sporting her Sew Sweet Pepita shirt from the Keys.  I may never have run the streets of Key West naked but I still had a good time there).   Read the rest of this entry »
