Whirlwind

It started with Thanksgiving and ended with putting up the Christmas tree!  But it was the best kind of busy.  The fun kind.  The kind where you drop into bed exhausted at the end of the night because you killed an entire bottle of wine… or vodka as the case may be.   Read the rest of this entry »

The Busy Woman Reads About Sewing…

for busy women.  I picked up, among other things, The Busy Woman’s Sewing Book by Nancy Zieman at The Book Thing today.   I always pick up books like this with the best intentions and then never pick them up.  BUT, I started thumbing trough this one and am finding it readable and enjoyable.

Happy Friday

I woke up this morning, and even though I should have devoted the entire day to dusting and vacuuming, all I could think about was gingerbread.  I really wanted to make a gingerbread house but,  around 4 o’clock and after a glass of wine, I decided a few gingerbread boys was the more realistic goal for the day and they were tasty if I do say so myself.     Read the rest of this entry »

How To Eat A Ham Sandwich

You can eat a ham sandwich wherever and whenever you please.  And ham sandwiches are tastiest when shared.  See, the thing about lunch boxes is that they have to be taken directly to the kitchen.  Otherwise, clever children will find then, open them and eat the contents when the moment strikes.

Slipper Making Fool

More like socks actually.  I wanted to keep these ones pretty badly but I already packed and shipped them off to their new home.  Then I made a new pair for myself but the sweater wasn’t as heavy so they’re not quite as warm.  I’ll have to go hunting the perfect sweater again next week.   Read the rest of this entry »

Baby Booties!

Chase took her slippers with her to school today.  They’re still very popular.  And while she was gone I finished up Avery’s.  I like them even better than Chase’s!  You could probably make three or four pairs of these from a single adult sized sweater.   Read the rest of this entry »

Big Girl

Working on feeding herself makes for interesting mealtimes and interesting hair. She works on it ok for a minute and then starts to play.  And don’t try to take the food away just because she’s playing with it.   Read the rest of this entry »

Cozy Toes

So, if you don’t care about my slippers but are interested in my short term memory loss you can skip straight to the bottom.  If you want to know what I’ve been doing instead of the laundry then read on.  But I still won’t tell you where I went yesterday because I don’t want you to yell at me.  I’ll just say that I came home with a pile of wool sweaters and a half baked plan about ways to use them.   Read the rest of this entry »

Fall Back

How come weekends are never long enough?  Not even when you get an “extra” hour?  I guess because getting an “extra” hour just means that everyone is thrown off of their game for an entire day more than anything else.  I suppose I shouldn’t complain.  Both of my kids slept until almost 8 yesterday’s time or almost 7 today and were both asleep by 7 tonight or 8 by yesterday’s time.  So it really wasn’t so bad.  Even though they were tired and my head is spinning a little.  You know?  Like, hey why ARE these kids so tired, it’s only 6:30?  Oh, right.  It’s kind of really 7:30.  How’d the switch go at your house? Bad Babies, Books and Lactobacillus

In spite of all the toys there are two things that Avery truly loves to do.  Dig in the rocks and dirt in the only living plant that we have in the house and open the door on the tv cabinet and pull all of the cords and devices out.  She broked the blue ray by pulling on it and then after several weeks mysteriously “fixed” it the same way.
