I woke up this morning, and even though I should have devoted the entire day to dusting and vacuuming, all I could think about was gingerbread. I really wanted to make a gingerbread house but, around 4 o’clock and after a glass of wine, I decided a few gingerbread boys was the more realistic goal for the day and they were tasty if I do say so myself.
I thoroughly ruined the icing but it was enough of a glaze for the candies to stick on. The kids were thrilled anyway. And since I only used about a third of the recipe my dream of a gingerbread house just may come to fruition yet. Which is good because the rest of our day involved a drive out to pick up candy that may have gotten just a little bit out of control. Luckily, the candies that look most traditional for gingerbread houses are the ones that appeal to me the least.
Between the cookies and the candies there was just enough time for Chase to dress up and take her baby to school. Toque, pompom boots AND a crown. She took her baby to school and fer her lunch and when she wasn’t looking Avery helped too. She’s a quick study.
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!
