The Incredible Edible Egg

Today was the second annual, what I like to call, gawker-stalker brunch at Volt in Frederick.  I cannot tell you how much I look forward to this birthday present.  Happy (belated) birthday to us!  And this year no one is pregnant.  Yes, we would like more mimosas to wash down that half a dozen scones.

We both went for the three course prix fixe menu again and loved every morsel.  I had tuna tartare as my first course and even though it didn’t sing to me like the tartare at The Oval Room it was pretty damn good just the same.  I had the corned beef hash as my second course (Erin had the steak and eggs).  Yum.  Seriously.  I had the goat cheese cheesecake for dessert.  Perfect.  I mostly decided on the tuna because yuzu vinaigrette was referenced on the menu and then I pretended to be Padma while I ate it.  And yes, I totally took a picture of our food but I did turn off the sound and the flash so nobody would laugh at me.  And I might have peeked into the kitchen and then I might have ran back to the table to report that yes, he was working in there.  I might have done those things.  Did I mention that I had a couple of mimosas?  Good times.

What a good day.  I’m marking my calendar for next year.
