A Project

Finished.  One Strawberry Shortcake style nightcap!  Well, it’s supposed to be a nightcap but when you’ve waited two whole days to have it in your hot little hands you just might wear it all day too.  Tomorrow I’ll try to get a picture of its intended use.  She’s cute that girl.  And she sure does love Strawberry Shortcake.

Cabane à Sucre

We spent a lovely brisk afternoon at Oregon Ridge Nature Center learning about maple syrup.  It’s kind of an important event to me I guess because we did it so much growing up.  Definitely an annual affair for kids.  Too bad I didn’t learn to love maple syrup until I was in my 20’s.  I kind of missed the boat on that one.  What else is new? There Was A Little Girl

Who had a little curl!   Just one today.  Other days she has as many as two or three :)  Thanks for all the beans related advice.  Now I know.  I won’t make that mistake again.

Well, I wish I could say that I’ve been busy but I can’t.  Still waiting for inspiration to strike.  I have an idea, prewashed the fabric, made a VERY SIMPLE plan but somehow still haven’t actually started anything.  I might slide off the couch and onto the floor just to be closer to the pile of fabric so I can feel like I’m making progress at least.   Read the rest of this entry »

Franks and Beans!

Another failed experiment but I’m not taking it too hard.  I don’t even like baked beans but I got it in my head that I really wanted to make some and that they would be goooood.  That and I had a bunch of “ingredients” that I needed to use up.  I poked around the internet a bit but turned up almost nothing that didn’t start by opening a can of baked beans. U Turn

If you guessed teething you were right.  A quick survey of her gums late last week revealed a mouthful of assorted sharp protuberances.  She certainly wasn’t miserable without reason.  The good news is that in spite of a little bit of a stuffy nose she seems to be feeling like herself again.  I have a whole pile of other stuff to do.  I need to get back to this space soon! I keep saying that. In the meantime, a little video after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Poor Sad Baby

I gave that poor sad baby a juice box.  She doesn’t seem to be sick.  No fever.  Just a heap of sad, miserable baby.  I had to do something about that sad face.  She didn’t even want to go on the swings today.  So I gave her the juice and then when I had to intervene to prevent her from squeezing the whole thing all over the place?  I wasn’t even taking it away!  Crying.  Lots of sad baby crying.  It probably wasn’t my best idea but I’m trying everything! 40 Winks

What have you been up to?  We’re back in the thick of nap hell.  Although, almost predictably, after three days of craziness things seem to be back to normal.  Maybe?  Please?  For three days she woke up after sleeping for just an hour during her only nap.  One hour just isn’t long enough.  There was crying.  Lots of crying.  Mostly because she was still so exhausted but there’s not a lot of room for reason at that point.   Read the rest of this entry »

New Tights

They came!  Isn’t the first thing you do with your new stockings to put them on your head?  I resisted the urge to just pick up whatever tights I could find at Target and try something with an aura of quality.  I ordered these from L.L. Bean for 7 bucks each with free shipping.  I have no experience with LL Bean tights but so far, they appear to be true to size.  We’ll see how they fare after a run through the wash.  It seems that no matter how big I buy tights from Target they always shrink down to an unbelievably small size so that the crotch gusset is always between her knees.   Read the rest of this entry »

Holy Guacamole

DSC_0294 This post is nothing more than gratuitous cute pictures of my children.  I can’t pretend otherwise.  Are you tired of seeing pictures of my kids eating guacamole?  I’m not sure why I think it’s so funny but I feel the need to capture it every time.  They just love it so.
