So me and my friend down the street had ourselves a little thriftventure last weekend. It was kind of a momentous occasion because it’s only recently that it’s not a huge hassle to put two kids in the car together. So while Avery was sleeping, the four of us sneaked out for a little thrifting.
Chase knows what it’s all about. She never turns down an invitation for a thriftventure. So we went and looked and found a few things including two Fred Penner cassettes (who donated those?), decorative plates, an adorable bonnet, an embroidered pillow and a vintage suitcase so large that it wouldn’t fit in the trunk with the stroller and had to ride home up front. And for a few uncomfortably tight minutes driving home it was just as it ever was. Fun and friends except with Fred Penner on the radio.
I found some good stuff. That bonnet that I love. I found a sweet little pillow with flowers embroidered with ribbon. I tried ribbon embroidery once but was way less successful. There’s nothing super special about the pillow. It’s not vintage or anything like that but I like it and I think it will be sweet on one of our beds… probably Chase’s. Can embroidery like that be done by machine?
I also picked up two little plates with a floral motif to add to my growing collection. The collection that I finally decided to display instead of just continuing to shove into any available drawer. Plate hangers are an amazing thing. I use them for everything that 3M strips won’t hang. Somehow they don’t destroy the plaster like hammering a nail will. I can’t explain it. It must have something to do with the angle or something.
I know I shouldn’t but I tried to be really good. I left tons of stuff on the shelf and I only bought one bowl. One. That’s huge cause you know I love bowls. It’s the thrill of the hunt you know?
How about you? Any happy hunting lately?
Oh, the pillow is beautiful! I have some plates you can have…hangers, too. They are floral and some have birds.
If I lived in TN I’d be all over that!
Hey, if it’s sold on amazon…i own it. It’s a problem on par with my bravo addiction. Thrifting sounds way more fun though :)
You are a great shopper, my friend! :)
If only I could find someone to pay me to do it…
Nice score! I love going to the thrift store. The embroidery is beautiful and in such good condition.
