Phew

We are still in the throes of some kind of totally gross sickness.  I’ll spare you the details but I really don’t want to because OH MY GOD I changed so many diapers today.  Luckily for you Ben is back from Portland.  Yeah!  So I told him all about it.  As soon as he walked in Read the rest of this entry »

Found

So how about a little show and tell?  I’ve found a few good things recently.  Too good to pass up.  Like this little camera.  One window lets you look through at your subject and the other shows a series of slides of a trip to the zoo like a view master.  And the flash bulb turns!  It’s pretty cool.

Cake! Let Them Eat It.

I came home the other day with a serious hankering for a piece of chocolate cake.  But it wasn’t so serious that I wanted to spend the afternoon in the kitchen.  My grandmother used to make a quick chocolate cake that you just cut out of the pan… nothing fancy. Read the rest of this entry »

One Last Paper Doll… I Think

I think we might be moving on here.  Paper doll production slowed waaaay down.  I don’t think I posted this one yet though it’s been hanging around here for a couple of days.  Chase is spending more time painting and drawing I think and today she asked me to show her how to draw different types of flowers.  That’s the second time in recent days that she’s asked me about duplicating something that she sees in her own work.  She wanted to draw new types of flowers after seeing a sample drawing on the back of a box of colored pencils.   Read the rest of this entry »

Fair Rapunzel

So, she’s really happy with the way Rapunzel turned out.  I’m happy too though she doesn’t knock my socks off.  Avery wants one too now.  She picked out something nice and soft for the body so hers should be extra cuddly.   Read the rest of this entry »

In the Works

Chase has been bugging me to make her a doll for a week or two.  I took out the Martha Stewart Craft Encyclopedia that I have, not surprisingly, never used.  The doll, of course, is a princess.  She wanted her clothes to be silver, for her to have a crown, and a new dress afterward.   Read the rest of this entry »

Morning

Morning was all mismatched socks and paper crowns and lots of books.  I took all of the books off of the living room shelves and organized them.  It’s true.  I did.  And the girls amused themselves. It was pretty good and probably the first and last time that it will happen this summer.   Read the rest of this entry »

6.19.11.Paper Dolls of the Day

The one in the orange dress is really kind of special because Chase made it for her her friend CC’s birthday.  As of yesterday all new paper dolls get necklaces.  I can tell that she worked really hard on this one because she colored in the whole body.   Read the rest of this entry »

Happy Fathers Day

I never do a great job with fathers day but I’m happy to report that, even if not entirely surprised by them, I think that Ben actually liked his gifts this year.  And I even got him with the matchy matchy because who can resist dressing up to please your adorable girls?  Chase also picked out two pairs of swim trunks for him but I think that might not have been an entirely selfless act.   Read the rest of this entry »

6.18.11.Paper Dolls of the Day

We worked on these together today.  One regular princess and one butterfly fairy princess.  She drew and cut the dolls and I worked on the dresses though she did help me some with the decorating.  I was going for a peter pan style collar but it kinda just ended up looking like boobs.  The green doll has a jewel encrusted necklace and you’ll notice that the nose on the big green doll is actually another tiny girl.  The land of fairies!
