The Flower Girl Dress

So I started sewing this baby up.  It looks more dress-like than nightie-like although, truly, what’s the difference?  It might have to do with all the gathers.  Next time I’m going to try copying the one I made for Chase.  It was simpler in some ways.

I traced the pattern for the bodice from a copy of Weekend Sewing that I borrowed from the library (and could have bought twice over for what it cost me to settle up with them!) but returned the book before I started sewing and, you know, never actually read the directions or anything.  So it’s snug.  It goes on but it’s snug and that could be for any number of reasons.

It’s fine though and very cute and now I know how it comes to be that people say things like oh, I just threw it together or I winged it.  I could never figure out how that could be possible with fiddly parts like facings and gathers but apparently this is how it happens.  It was make it work time.   So I managed to shimmy her into it and she likes it a lot.  Like, screaming don’t take it off me, a lot.  All I have left to do is to add the ties.  I forgot to do that too but whatever because I already declared this make it work, right?  Add the ties and cut the threads.  Stupid threads.  It will be worth it if she lets me take some cute pictures tomorrow.

** I figured out, it’s not just me that had this problem… phew.
