The Shorty

It turned out great!  It’s been so fun following along.  Hop over to Pink Chalk to check out the other finished jumper too.  Good stuff.  Apparently the shorty part is a surprise to people.  I know what it’s supposed to look like so it never occurred to me that the profile view in the published photo doesn’t really show that.  Anyway.  Surprise!

Rapunzel Painted

Chase spent the morning in an apron with her face smeared with glaze.  That girl is a SERIOUS ceramic artist.  Who knew?  So, in a totally self-interested move,  I might have tried to talk the workshop facilitator into offering a ceramics class for kids.  And she might have liked the idea.  And we might have space AND a kiln!  So if  you live around here and are even a TINY bit interested in something like that leave a comment and let me know or call me or knock on my door!  I can’t say enough good things about Miss Natalie.  Chase loves to work with her and she has such a great quiet way about working with the kids.  Can you help me make this happen?

Fancy

It was nice to have a respite from the sun today.  We took a little break form being cooped up in the house to venture out to the library.  Sometimes you just need to press the reset button, go out and buy yourself a hot cup of tea.  And if that means you have to borrow a millionth copy of Rapunzel because you’ve never had that particular version with those particular illustrations before then so be it.  I have to admit though, the illustrations are nice.

After last month’s library debacle we’re keeping it simple.  ONE book.  Actually, I vowed never to go back again but that didn’t last long.  I can’t resist the siren song of new books.  I just can’t.  I hope that I’m still responsible enough to have a library card.  It’s worth it because I’m sure that our little expedition is the reason that our night ended on a high note.

We had a simple supper and now here’s hoping that bedtime goes smoothly because me and Ben have big dessert plans involving some overripe fruit.  Exciting, I know.

My Sew Along Week!

So I mentioned a while back, and maybe over and over again, that my pattern was coming up in the sew along that Pink Chalk Studio is hosting.  Well it’s finally here.  It’s kind of a thrill, getting to see what other people put together and how that is the same or different from your own vision.

This is my first published pattern and I’m not at all used to sending my work out for other people to use.  That took a little time to wrap my head around and so did not TOTALLY freaking out about what could possibly go wrong.  I did that for a while but I know now that it will be fine and I’m really looking forward to seeing the finished product.  I love the fabric choice up at Pink Chalk, this should be really sweet.  And while we’re getting a little shameless self-promotion out of the way, the next book comes out in November and I have a super cute project in there too!  I mean honestly, it’s nice to hear someone say you’re awesome every once in a while even if it’s just you.  I’m not even sure if that clip is totally relevant but it’s a classic so watch it all the same.

Anyway, I’m totally embracing this.  So, in the spirit of sew along I thought I’d post some links to some of the jumpers that some gals have already put together here, here, here. here. and here.
