This Week

I kinda missed week 2 there but between everything going on at home and the lousy phone pictures I wasn’t feeling that inspired, you know?  This week though, I’m back in the saddle though there’s still no word on spy cam.

Fair Rapunzel

Remember Rapunzel?  We went to see the big reveal today and we found her!  I can’t even tell you how excited Chase was to see her!  It’s pretty amazing that she’s there for everyone to see forever!  There were cookies and, look, I just used three exclamation points in a row!!!  I think we were just a part of something really special.  I’m pretty sure she painted the girl with the red face too but, sadly, I couldn’t really remember what pieces I worked on. Holding Down the Fort

We’re all ok but we’re having some sad times around here.  We lost someone very special.  We’re kind of all over the place but I’m doing my best to make sure the nuts and bolts are taken care of.  I was really worried about my big girl but she’s so incredible.  She is so wise and empathetic.  She said to me in the car today that she knows grandma is sad about grandpa but she must be so happy to have all her grandchildren and I’m sure that’s true.

Why Yes, You Can Paint

Water colors are still my go to.  Whenever I say no to “can we paint?”  I take it back, say sure and pull out the watercolors.  They’re virtually mess free.  I only give them a tiny cup of water and they still come out with lovely clean colors and really great work.  How could I say no?  Keep your eyes peeled.  This is the time of year when water color sets go on clearance.  We started with a Crayola set.  A dollar is totally worth it at least to see if it works for you.  From there we added on more exciting sets with more colors.  More colors are definitely more fun!  We’ve even picked them up at The Book Thing.  Also, Target has all of their construction paper on clearance right now.  I stocked up on one pack of every variety.  Multi-color, large white and small and large manilla.  The bigger paper is a little more expensive.  I think the small packes are 50 sheets for a dollar and the big ones are a buck and  a half.  Happy stocking.  We’re all good on paper now to replenish my supply of trims…

This Week

This was a big week for everyone.  Even though we worked hard in our classrooms last week getting ready and putting the finishing touches on things this was our first week back with kids.  And for most of our little guys this is their first experience being away from home in a school setting.  But the week was so good.  So, so good.   Read the rest of this entry »

Blinked And Almost Missed It

As is the way with second babies, I suppose, not only did I not make a first day of school dress for her but I also neglected to take her picture this morning when we set off for school.  You’d think that after all of that and then staging an after school shot that I would have at least checked the camera to make sure that I had a good shot.  My poor girl.  But she had a GREAT time.  LOVED it.  We both did.  But I won’t lie, I’m beat. Weekend Update

DSC_0027Aside from making a point of getting to the pool on the very last day of the season we played inside like we couldn’t go outside.  I’m not sure why.  Roller skating, jumprope, the kind of stuff that should never take place around so many pointy things.

The only noteworthy thing to come out of the weekend is that Avery is totally getting this whole potty business.  I let her run naked all day and when she has to pee she runs over and sits on the potty.  Is that all there is to it?  She even pooped and only had one accident!  I think it clicked a day or two ago.  I’m going to go with this until I have to go with something else. DSCN0208So we’re back to school!  Which is awesome because I love transitional phases.  Except that, actually, I don’t and it’s a little more complicated than I’d like it to be.

The good news is that even though we’re starting somewhere new she loves her schools so much that, for Chase, it’s like choosing between visiting great aunt Betty who always lets you eat as much chocolate as you want and great aunt Doris who always buys you a new dress.  I’m a little turned upside down but she’s having a blast.
