So I decided to take the plunge again. It’s Kids’ Clothes Week! The last time I ventured into these waters Avery looked like this. Ok, so here we go. Picking up where we left off I worked on some knit pants (not so tiny this time). These were an unfinished pair of shirt pants. The problem with these ones was that I couldn’t exactly eek out enough fabric from the sleeve so there wasn’t enough rise in the seat. Am I using the right terms? There wasn’t enough fabric to cover her whole bum. So they sat on my desk for, what, two months waiting to be finished.
It took me two whole months to get to it because the process was so super scientific. I put the finished pants over the leftover shirt bits at the fold and cut a six inch strip that was about the same length as the waist of the pants. I stitched the ends together, folded it in half, pinned it a couple of times and then sewed it on. I wanted the waistband a little bit smaller than the waist on the pants so they’d stay on. Done. It took me two months to come up with that.
Seriously though Instagram and being super pregnant are making me lazy. So that’s what you get. Standing on a chair in emergency supplies Costco run aftermath. They turned out super cute though for pj’s or leggings in a pinch. This has got to be the easiest method around.
I have no plan for day 2. Hopefully inspiration will strike soon. In the meantime you can check out all 550 other participants using the link above and you can see who else is sewing along locally here and here.
