Book Report :: Extra Yarn

I picked this book up from where it was displayed because I always take a peek at books about fiber arts. I loved it right away! So I thought I would share it with you.

I’m not that interested in yarn bombing but I thought that the way it was woven into this story was cute. The illustrations are sweet and the story is simple but with a fairytale or fable like moral. An evil duke? sultan? I can’t remember but, in any event, he was evil and steals the box of yarn. To his dismay he discovers the bottomless box of yarn to be empty and throws it back into the ocean where it makes it’s way back to the little girl and she keeps right on knitting. It’s a cute story with lovely illustrations and my kids really liked it. Also, Mr. Crabtree remind me of the mister.

 Extra Yarn By Mac Barnett if you’re in Baltimore you can borrow it from the Village Learning Place.
