Smocked Pink Gingham

It’s not exactly clear to me if it’s a small shirt or a big dress but, nevertheless, Avery wanted to wear it.

Bananas, Rainbow Fish And Sisters :: Our Week

This week so far, mostly…

We’re up to apples, peaches, mango, spinach, peas, carrots, sweet potatoes and now bananas and guacamole! She loves to eat puffs and Baby Mum Mums too. We spend a lot of every day in the kitchen covered in mushy bits of green food.

Avery’s Rainbow Fish. She’s all about this story right now. I would say that her top three are Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Gingerbread Man and Rainbow Fish. We have multiple versions of those two first titles. She loves all of them. She wanted it to be JUST like this. I had to draw it so she could glue on the scales.

Also, her retelling of the story.

It’s been a busy week TGIF, right? I’m looking forward to spending some unscheduled time with these little ladies.

Patch Pocket

I LOVE this little outfit. I don’t know exactly how old it is but old enough that there’s no Spanish on the label. I use that as a gauge when I’m shopping for vintage because I’m no expert. It’s a little boyish I guess but I paired it with the gingham trimmed peter pan colar to try compensate a little. But oh, how could I not? The patch pockets! The bear!

So much else has happened. The girls change so much everyday and I have recorded none of it. Like the other night when Avery woke up in the middle of the night, asked for a sandwich and then went back to bed. And, yes, I did make her a pbj in the middle of the night.

Finally, if you’ll indulge me, I’m going to live out my dream of finally comparing their six month baby pictures side by side. Can you tell who’s who? Same but different, you know?

We tried carrots yesterday. So much gagging. Such a fuss. They were much better received today.

Pink vintage

Chocolate milk because we had time to kill. I was so prepared today for an imaginary guitar lesson but it’s impossible to be late for one of those.

Paper Toys

I wonder if this will be a reprise of the paper girls. That went on for such a long time and there hasn’t been anything quite like it since. The girls had so much fun working on these this afternoon though and they do have a lot of stuffed toys. Somewhere in the house is a rainbow bear with a little tuft of poly-fil for hair.

You can make your own! Avery’s birthday is a month from now and, since a month in our house is really only two weeks, I’m starting to think about her party. The day after last year’s Care Bear fiesta she started talking about her Thomas birthday party and has been waiting ever so patiently for it to happen ever since.

I’ve been racking my brain trying to come up with creative Thomas themed ideas that won’t require me to spend a fortune at Party City. The cheapest Thomas pinata costs twenty bucks? Yikes! That will just make me grouchy watching it sit around until recycling day.  Read the rest of this entry »

Fired Up

Ben offered to keep the girls at home while I ran over but I took them all with me. We all went to vote. It’s important. You voted, right? We also went to 7-11 for hot chocolate after hanging around on the playground for a while. You need a little pick me up and something a little warm after spending all that time voting and playing and running into everyone you know. It’s Maryland, you know, so I was a little nervous that there wouldn’t be any Obama cups left but I bet they ordered extra.

For now I’m cuddling up with a bottle of wine and a can of peanuts. It would have been kettle chips but my husband ate them. He ate them right out from under me. I guess he used up all of his emergency preparedness with Sandy. Now he just eats all the chips willy nilly. What’s up with that?

Made Myself An Apron

I’ve been talking about this apron for weeks and weeks. All day I walk around and think if I could only just pick that up and put it where it goes I could tidy up just a little. The problem is that I’m always finding Polly Pockets that belong upstairs in the living room or finding Magnatiles that belong in the basement in the living room when I have absolutely no chance of being able to return them to their proper places at that moment.  Read the rest of this entry »

There Was An Old Lady

I didn’t want to say anything about it because, let’s face it, putting it out there for everyone to read always leads to immediate jinxing. However I am so dumbfounded, stupefied really, by recent developments that I’m just going to do it anyway. My children have stopped asking to watch tv. Chase mostly. Avery still asks about it a couple of times a day. Read the rest of this entry »
