Once, when Chase was two we had a Valentine’s day party. It was fun but a lot of work and we never did it again. The next year we had Avery and it never evolved into a tradition. Sorry, it never evolved into a tradition for me. Meanwhile, Chase still remembers. Valentines day was over a week ago and yet, still, on Monday she was asking me if we could have a party. When I continued to resist she agreed to having just a family party.
The family party consisted mostly of the eating of candy hearts but also pinning the tail on Eeyore and oh, eating more candy hearts. Who am I kidding though, it was totally fun, I didn’t have to vacuum and partied in my jammies. Now that’s a party I can totally get behind. The girls even cleared off the dining room table in preparation.

I think she fell down five or maybe six times today. She’s been accident prone since the beginning and it worries me. I hate it. Is it because she’s so tired all the time? Yesterday, I had to wake her from a nap and it took her almost 20 minutes to move from collapsed in a heap on the floor to willing to be carried to the car to go to a birthday party. But I mean, seriously, does your three year old stumble around all day like a drunken sailor?

It was a crazy idea… driving to Niagara Falls over a long weekend. So, so crazy but we did it anyway. The girls had a great time. I, on the other hand, am still recovering. It was all fine until about the last two hours of the journey home when the carsickness started. Oy. So much barfing. There were some less unpleasant and memorable moments over the course of the weekend too. Hanging out by the pool, bottomless cups of hot cocoa for the girls, playing roll up the rim to win after drinking endless cups of coffee for us, the falls in winter, c-c-c-coooold, lake effect snow, listening to the girls chat and play in the back seat (I go to high school. Yeah? Well, I go to low school), more hanging out with family and Chase lost another tooth!

It was good. Lots of Valentines, lots of candy. I’m pretty sure we had the only homemade Valentines but there wasn’t any complaining. We did a workshop, some tree climbing, and Bennett let someone else hold her for a while.
Happy Valentines Day.

Dancing with bloomers on her head, “look at my great hat!”
Making and eating the most delicious carrot cake ever.
Loving these stripes and thinking about ways to see more.
Also, getting serious about Valentines.

My girl was particularly prolific today printing the valentines she designed, making coloring pages for “school,” and a paper doll that I have yet to locate. Happy weekending!

I wish the pictures weren’t so grainy but the battery in my camera is dead. Besides, it’s just Tuesday.

It’s so hard! I want my baby to stay small and yet every day is still a vigilant watch for signs of new milestones. I confess that I let her eat a crumb off the living room floor because she tried so hard to wiggle over and get it. But, in my defense, it was a fresh crumb from a homemade scone so it’s fine, right?
