I’m over here now. Sometimes.
Poor neglected blog, it’s ok. I feel like this is time is time I would have filled recording all the new words that B has learned but, really, it isn’t many. Suddenly, about two days ago she started using “na” to take the place of words that she can’t, or won’t say. B, what do you want? Juice? Say juice (she can say juice). Na! No, juice. Na! (Also means, now give me the juice!) She’s a funny one, she is. Read the rest of this entry »
So much to be thankful for right now.
So I didn’t even sign up to participate in Kids Clothes Week this spring but I’ve still been busy! I got the chance to work with Perfect Pattern Parcel and I’ve been sewing my way through some of the awesome patterns included in the parcel. It’s no joke when they say you can use it to build a spring wardrobe for a little girl.
Perfect Pattern Parcel is a cool project that supports indie pattern designers and raises money for DonorsChoose.org. You set your price for the patterns! It’s a pretty sweet deal. Don’t miss the Prefontaine Shorts pattern though, it’s the bonus pattern and has to be “unlocked”. The shorts are so GOOD even if, on the first run through, I couldn’t quite grasp the instructions. They make up pretty easily and now Read the rest of this entry »
We’re having the fabled language explosion. Well, maybe not an explosion just yet but this mama feels like it’s a comin’ which makes me happy because for a long time I was wondering where it was. So now in addition to mama and dada she says a pretty respectable Chase, Avery and Teenie. She also says cheese and please, where is, what’s this, what’s that and mmm mmm for no. That’s a lot of words for B. Really, a lot. I’m excited to hear what she has to say in the upcoming days. Read the rest of this entry »
It’s so good. I don’t even care that it’s supposed to snow again this week. Well, I care a little but I’m choosing not to think about it. I kind of can’t even go there right now. The American Craft Council show was here in Baltimore this weekend and it was nice to have a peek around there and it was even nicer to sit outside and have a glass of sangria. I kind of broke the seal on that. And, you know, Sangria is just a gateway drink to margaritas which I pulled the lid off of this afternoon. Come on summer!
I made a good carrot cake too. From this book. So good!
Someone looked at this picture and asked me where B could have possibly thought she was going like this. I said I’m sure she thought that she was going wherever she damn well pleased. This girl has spirit. Fieiry, fiery, leaving the house naked spirit.
Ooh, and she was so mad when I brought her back inside. Do you think she wanted to hear that we could go back out if she put on some clothes? No, she did not. So many things make her furious. Can’t use the fabric markers? Furious. No more candy? F Read the rest of this entry »
I thought I’d might do something shocking like post something here. I lie in bed at night thinking about the things I should document here. The conversation I overheard about mammals (ponies specifically) and foals and well, if they don’t hatch from eggs, where DO they come from? The hospital? You said it was just like for people!
The hermit crabs we picked up today for Chase’s classroom and that I dropped twice. I probably won’t sleep tonight. Read the rest of this entry »
Sometimes, left to my own defenses, I will take the children on an adventure. That means undertaking an activity or outing that is probably more ambitious than it needs to be on a day that I won’t have any backup but that’s how I roll, I guess. Did you know that a) there is now MARC service between Baltimore and DC on weekends and that b) the dinosaur hall at the Smithsonian is closing in April for five years, FIVE! Taking the train to DC alone with kids is better than driving alone with kids, I’m pretty sure. I came home thinking I would definitely be up for doing that again.
The things Read the rest of this entry »
