Junior Explorers?

Magnifying glasses?  Sometimes it’s better just not to ask.  Mostly because asking questions like that always turns their attention from whatever they’re busy doing back to me but also because… well, what on earth?   Read the rest of this entry »

The End Of Ugly Gliders

So Erin totally called me out on my empty promise to write up a tutorial for how to recover the cushions on a glider.  I kind of do that all the time.  But, I’m officially taking a break from my tie dye to write this.   Read the rest of this entry »

Iron-On Dottie Patches!

So when Shannon asked me to test drive her new patches for her I played it cool.  Sure, I said but what I was thinking was… O.M.G. YES! Of course I will!  Let me at ‘em!  Well, maybe I did say that but it’s only because honestly, who in their right mind would turn down an opportunity to have just a little more Sweet Pepita in their lives?  Honestly.   Read the rest of this entry »

Rocker Restyle

I finally finished this project.  You probably have one of these guys at home  It’s a great chair, probably relatively inexpensive and quite sturdy.  The problem with these guys is that they come in four shades of hideous.  Functional but a little too brown and scratchy.   Read the rest of this entry »

Treats For Everybody

We spent all morning visiting a preschool that we’re considering for next year.  Chase had a great time which, I suppose, is really what counts.  I was thoroughly exhausted, she wanted to stay and play.  After that we ran some errands Read the rest of this entry »

This Should Be An Easter Post

Easter was, after all, fantastic but first the end result of all my hard work.  I’m really happy with how it turned out.  Ben nearly almost totally ruined the floor but one whole night of hands and knees scrubbing has it looking more or less presentable.  I wish that Orange Glo business worked as well as the commercials would have you believe. Butter Up

DSC_0002It took me hours of pouring over paint chips to finally select this one but I’m really happy with it.  I should be up there sweeping right now but alas.  I steadied myself for getting a late start.  I sat in the living room waiting for one or both of the girls to wake up but no, they were both out at 7:30. Just One More Day of Orange

library-2062They finally came and way in advance of the worst case scenario end of November estimate.  They do that to make you feel fantastic when they ship four weeks early don’t they?  So I like!  And I’m glad we went with orange.  Do you see why I didn’t want to bother with matching wood now?  What a pain.  I’m not great at staging pictures.  I took a bunch and this was one of the only shots without a dog butt in it.  I trip on them and step on them and they persist with being constantly underfoot.  Our kitchen is also crazy hard to shoot.  It’s a small square room with a narrow hallway in one corner with the opening partly eclipsed by pantry shelves.  If you stand in the dog bed and lean just so you can kind of get your shot. Fear of Commitment

I finally settled on a style but I can’t seem to commit to a color.  I’m leaning toward blue but I think orange would really be best.  Or maybe even white.  See, but then again, if I was going to go with white I’d order this one.  I don’t know if this is one of those times when I need to apply my George Costanza rule of decision making and get the blue or what.  My only prerequisite is that the chair be painted so I don’t have to match the wood to the table.  There is no fun in buying anything anymore.  None.

What about black?  This is following a close second on the heels of buying shoes for toddlers.  Thoughts?  And don’t tell me that you’d go with something completely different unless it’s absolutely fabulous AND within my price range because I just don’t need anymore options in the mix.

Don’t forget, this is your last chance to enter to win in the great crown giveaway.  Good luck!

Organizing

library-3638I came home from errands this morning with a car full of boxes and crates.  Ben rolled his eyes but unloaded it anyway.  Did I mention that I also had 200 lbs of sand in there?  Mmm, sandbox.  But that’s another story.  It feels good to have gotten this shelf straightened out.  It was a horrible mess and an eyesore for a long time.  I’m hoping that just keeping the stuff contained will help to keep it organized over the long haul.  I find that once the bags start to get shuffled around on the shelf it’s the beginning of the end.  Things only get worse from there.

I don’t know if using the fabric boxes is a smart idea but we’ll see.  They’re mostly filled with dry goods so hopefully they stay as pretty as they are now.  I was going to go to IKEA Read the rest of this entry »
