It’s not like an official resolution or anything but I need to move more. We all do. And the weather’s been so nice this winter (except for the polar vortex business) so we’ve been hiking our way around Gunpowder. It’s the best Baltimore area state park in my opinion. It has everything and it’s the place Read the rest of this entry »

It was the busy good kind. There was the Baltimore Book Festival (and IKEA in the morning, because professional development.)

We took a little summer getaway. It was nice to get away for a while but we’re back now and digging out from under a pile of laundry. I think the girls enjoyed themselves and that’s what vacation really is, right? There’s no sleeping in or, I don’t know, respite from the dishes. It’s just moving the home operation to a different base. But something about making those memories makes it worthwhile.
I bought Chase new shoes for school today and a Hello Kitty lunch box but before we get too far down that path we’re going to attempt one very final hurrah voyage to the, much closer, ocean. We still have to cross go to the beach and make macaroni necklaces off our bucket list. How’s your summer been so far?

Mostly pleasant but with slightly more barfing than I would say is necessary to adequately mark the occasion. Ben got the gift of permission to spend his own money on himself! The computer store, a pair of shoes. And yet more than once I exclaimed but is it really Mother’s Day? He’s a good guy that one. I had fun. We ate cake. It was a, mostly*, good day.
*Statement qualified due to excessive barfing.

I like this picture because it captures some random minute in our day. There’s a tiny bit of everyone in the picture from my vantage spot on the chair by the back door. Happy Friday.

One day soon I will post a video of baby bee laughing. We all try to get her to laugh. The girls think it’s marvelous and I can tell that Avery is excited about this new level of interaction that she has with her baby sister. Today we drove around in the car instead of the van and they were like hey, this is so cool. we can see each other!!
Ok! Time to buckle down and power through to the weekend. Who has plans?

It’s dead. I have no laptop. I tried to explain that the coffee rings on the cover were a symbol of my undying MacBook love and affection and not, absolutely not, of neglect. I dropped it off on Monday and, finally, they called today to tell me that it’s almost ready (and to reassure me that this disaster was not my fault). I’m SO ready to have it back. This week has not been an eye opening look into my life unplugged where I realize how much I need to disconnect. This week has been a stressful sequence of days full of pacing from the living room to the kitchen aimlessly trying to remember what I was just doing and looking forlornly at the table where my computer usually lives. Tonight my craving for speed and connectivity finally forced me to abandon my phone and tablet stand ins in favor of the mini… the one connected to the tv. This monitor’s a little bigger than I would like it to be. I’ll probably go blind typing this.
HOWEVER, I felt like I needed to share this awesomeness with you. Jen at Classic Play posted her most recent installment in her Creative Family series and it’s about our family! Woot! I feel so honored to be included among all of the other awesome families that she ‘s featured. I hope you’ll hop over there for a read and while you’re at it just add Classic Play to your reader so you can keep up with all of the cool stuff she’s got going on over there. She’s got a bunch of awesome contributors and be sure to take a look at her Art School series.
Ok, there’s more but I can’t bear it. I can’t wait to be back for real. Soon… but not that soon because we’re hitting the road for a wedding tomorrow. But still, soon and surely with pictures and a story. Remember this?

You wouldn’t think they could find so many but they can. Chase and her friend worked on this collection after dinner. They have seeds from cosmos and cone flower, cosmos petals, sage and coleus leaves and some very special rocks. They collected these few things as the sun was setting on this Friday evening. It’s nice to have friends and weekends. With Kindergarten, I think, has come a whole new appreciation for and awareness about weekends. We’re all looking forward to a good one.

It’s here! I asked the guy how long he’d have them and he thought maybe into next week but they’re already dwindling. Italian prune plums have such a small window and so few farmers grow them. They’re probably a fickle fruit. Only a fickle fruit would be this tasty. Read the rest of this entry »
