Thinking But Not Doing

So I’ve been thinking about doing something. Writing something that is. Something that I don’t sit down and bang out on the fly. Something that is well thought out and coherent. Something that requires planning. Planning… right. So all I have to do is organize my thoughts a little. Maybe on a piece of paper with a pen. I’ve been thinking about it for about three days now and have yet to make a move.  Par for the course I guess. Read the rest of this entry »

Two Parties

Two cakes, two outfit changes, two, maybe three goodie bags.  The weekend of many parties.  So many parties that I could hardly keep it all straight and almost showed up two hours early for one.  Whoops.

I have plenty of things on my to do list but I’m recovering tonight from all the time I spent in the last few days cutting felt into tiny pieces.  Today’s birthdays were for two of Chase’s very special friends so we made some very special gifts.  Chase even helped me do some sewing on the machine.

The thing about making surprises is the waiting.  As soon as I pull stuff off the machine I want to run right out and give it to the intended recipient.  Sometimes before I even cut off the threads and finish up properly.  These two projects didn’t involve too much sewing but I did kill an entire bottle of fabric glue.

Still Dyeing

I may or may not be totally addicted to dyeing fabric.  I may or may not have made more shirts today.  I had to work out some patterns I thought I could get a handle on and although it didn’t work out exactly as I planned it was still fun.   Read the rest of this entry »

Except Sleepy Was One of the Dwarves… Not a Reindeer

dsc_0011Christmas is coming!  It’s a week away to be exact.  The tree is (mostly) trimmed and presents have (mostly) been ordered.  Everything is done enough that if something left on the list doesn’t get done no one will notice and that gives me great peace. Read the rest of this entry »

Baby Doll Cloth Diaper Tutorial

library-8295Part of my plan for Christmas/birthday/new baby season is a new set of gear for C’s baby.  Actually, she has asked for a brand new baby with eyes that close.  That’s part of the plan too.  But this is scrap buster month over as Sew, Mama, Sew which got me thinking.  I made a couple of diapers a while back but nothing too fancy and got to thinking about how to make them better.  As a result, I barely slept last night but I did come up with an idea.   Read the rest of this entry »

Make Your Own Lacing Beads

library-7826Beads are a favored activity at our house.  We started with preschool type chunky wooden lacing beads by Melissa and Doug.  They’re great wooden beads that are easy to manipulate but became too easy in short order.  Then we moved on to another Melissa and Doug kit that resulted in a number of pictures of teenie looking rather pathetic.  But after a while, we lost interest in those beads too.  So I started thinking.   Read the rest of this entry »

Shop Update :: Working It Out

crown-frontSo I still don’t really know what direction this will take but I’m trying something new.  I feel so inspired after last week’s felt crowns that I’ve developed a pattern of my own.  I love it.  I spent some time poking around on the internet looking at other styles of actual crowns and developed  a pattern all my own.  Or two or three.  I have a few more tricks up my sleeve but I need supplies.  I am so over acrylic felt.  Too bad I have plenty of that.  My pinking shears just won’t cut it.

Felt Crowns

pepitamady1Look at those faces!  This weekend was too much fun.  It was the official weekend of birthday parties.  We spent the WHOLE day on Saturday eating cake and candy, running and screaming, moon bouncing and all other manner of party craziness.  I didn’t do so much running and screaming, mainly because after party round 1 I was totally beat.  It took me all day Sunday to recover and I still had to go to bed early.  Chase has amazing stamina.

Project :: Fat Quarter Diaper Changing Pad

library-2232I was going to title this post cloth diaper changing pad but I couldn’t figure out how to place or not place hyphens so that it didn’t sound like a pad for changing cloth diapers instead of a changing pad made out of cloth.  Grammar is so tricky.  Then, my camera wanted to be tricky.  I had exactly enough battery power left in my flash to take exactly two pictures.  My flash batteries always disappear very suspiciously.  When questioned, Ben said, No, he didn’t know where he could find me a set of batteries.  However, upon further probing, it appears that he Read the rest of this entry »

Good Friday

library-1302Is that blasphemous?  I didn’t mean it to be.  I just like the double meaning.  Because it will indeed be a good Friday.  Actually, I didn’t even realize it was Good Friday until just a little while ago.  My boss asked me if I was coming in tomorrow which makes me think that our office must not be closed.  But when my day off falls on what would otherwise be a holiday it’s a lot less satisfying in some ways.  I’m trying not to dwell on it.  I need to be home anyway because I’m hoping that taking it easy will help me get over this plague that I’m suffering from.  I am definitely on the mend even though I sound like hell.  The flu-like body aches, fever and chills, makes me feel crazy illness, morphed into a hellish sore throat which has finally limited itself to a stuffy nose and hoarse voice but I can deal with this.   Read the rest of this entry »
