I did some good work today. All kinds of stuff! Still crossing things off that list and feeling good about it! I have an OB appointment tomorrow. I’m anxious to know if there’s been any, shall we say, movement. I’m enjoying making good use of this time but all of the excitement and anticipation is the best part, isn’t it? Doll 2
I worked on stuff over the weekend. I took the sad bits of cloth that were lying around waiting to be Avery’s counterpart to Chase’s silver Rapunzel and finally finished it. I like this one. She’s soft and cuddly she is. And I gave her brown hair. Brown and kind of greenish but she’s not that picky… yet. I drew the face on this time but it looks about as good as the 4-year old created version. Oh, and I used a Sharpie. A while back I participated in a craft stash swap and Mindy sent me a pack of fabric pens. Brilliant! I love them already! Thanks to Kim for organizing that, totally fun. In the Works
Chase has been bugging me to make her a doll for a week or two. I took out the Martha Stewart Craft Encyclopedia that I have, not surprisingly, never used. The doll, of course, is a princess. The Mermaidens!
And I’m officially done! I did everything I could to sabotage this project. Everything. I started by not reading the instructions. After reading the instructions I decided not to follow them. Then I committed a series of sewing sins. But there they are and, at the end of the day, I decided not to hate them. They kind of don’t look anything like the picture in the book but the girls will never know that.

Baby Blocks
I’m happy to report that they’re done! I’m planning to let her open them on Christmas Eve. Last year I let Chase open her pyjamas at night but I don’t think I’m going to get to pyjamas this year so I’ll probably let her open her hat. Or her mermaiden if I get to it. Read the rest of this entry »

Slipper Making Fool
More like socks actually. I wanted to keep these ones pretty badly but I already packed and shipped them off to their new home. Thinking But Not Doing
So I’ve been thinking about doing something. Writing something that is. Something that I don’t sit down and bang out on the fly. Something that is well thought out and coherent. Something that requires planning. Planning… right. So all I have to do is organize my thoughts a little. Maybe on a piece of paper with a pen. Two Parties
Two cakes, two outfit changes, two, maybe three goodie bags. The weekend of many parties. So many parties that I could hardly keep it all straight and almost showed up two hours early for one. Whoops.
I have plenty of things on my to do list but I’m recovering tonight from all the time I spent in the last few days cutting felt into tiny pieces. Today’s birthdays were for two of Chase’s very special friends so we made some very special gifts. Chase even helped me do some sewing on the machine.
The thing about making surprises is the waiting. As soon as I pull stuff off the machine I want to run right out and give it to the intended recipient. Sometimes before I even cut off the threads and finish up properly. These two projects didn’t involve too much sewing but I did kill an entire bottle of fabric glue.
