I thought for a while she’d moved on but, no, she was just taking a break. The girls are back. She was so excited to show these to me when I picked her up today that she made me look at them in the hallway at school. Somebody else drew these and she colored them in. Read the rest of this entry »

I think we might be moving on here. Paper doll production slowed waaaay down. I don’t think I posted this one yet though it’s been hanging around here for a couple of days. Chase is spending more time painting and drawing I think and today she asked me to show her how to draw different types of flowers. That’s the second time in recent days that she’s asked me about duplicating something that she sees in her own work. She wanted to draw new types of flowers after seeing a sample drawing on the back of a box of colored pencils. Read the rest of this entry »

The one in the orange dress is really kind of special because Chase made it for her her friend CC’s birthday. As of yesterday all new paper dolls get necklaces. I can tell that she worked really hard on this one because she colored in the whole body. Read the rest of this entry »

We worked on these together today. One regular princess and one butterfly fairy princess. She drew and cut the dolls and I worked on the dresses though she did help me some with the decorating. I was going for a peter pan style collar but it kinda just ended up looking like boobs. The green doll has a jewel encrusted necklace and you’ll notice that the nose on the big green doll is actually another tiny girl. The land of fairies!

Fairy Princess of the Universe! She’s also stronger than Power Girl. And because today was the last day of camp I promised to take a picture of the fairy princess on her arm so that she would let me wash it off. She was pretty specific that I should not only take the picture but also actually print it. I guess I’ll have to keep up my end of the bargain.

Camp must have been like a paper girl making factory today. Or maybe she felt like she had to make up for yesterday by being extra crazy prolific today. I suppose the one on the left is really just an honorary paper girl since she’s not cut out but I had to include her anyway because it’s me you see.
A little bit about the girls as they were described to me, from left to right: Me wearing a wedding Read the rest of this entry »

This one was created at school. When I asked about her Chase told me that she’s a princess and that she’s been waiting for me for years! I’m guessing the medium is Cray-pas. They give the same super saturated look that the white board crayons did. That seems to be her preference. There was no paper doll making yesterday! The artist rests on Sunday.

Created first thing this morning as you might note that I’m still wearing my pyjamas in the photo. This time she used some white board crayons. The kind you can use in place of dry erase markers. I think that she likes them because, in spite of the crappy phone picture, they make super saturated colors on paper. This is a “princess baby for Avery.” She’s wearing a red crown and glass slippers.

This is today’s paper doll. Drawn with a brand new box of chunky Crayolas before leaving for camp this morning. I wanted to ask her about the pig nose and the black eye but I suspect that the pig nose is just her way of representing nostrils for the first time.
