You Win Some

I dropped two bags of junk off at the thrift store and, quite stupidly, decided just to pop my head in. You know, for a second. But I couldn’t leave the lovely little knob puzzles, or the dinosaur floor puzzle, or the board games, or the doll pram. What would Chase say if she found out I passed on a doll pram? So I probably came out even on this one. I rationalize it by saying that I really chose only really good finds and passed up a bunch of other junk. That’s something, right?

Ok, but really?  We didn’t even turn on the tv today.  Not even once.  Makes it totally worth it.  And I can totally get behind games after dinner.  I also put Boggle Jr. up in Chase’s room which isn’t much of a game at all but I thought it might be something she’d enjoy doing on her own.  And she did, this morning at 2:30am.  I went into her room and tucked her back into bed but I have no idea how long she was up playing.  Anyway, it all only cost me a stern eye rolling from the man person that lives here.  I can live with that.  Oh, I forgot about the yogurt maker.  I’m working on that right now!

The next few weeks are chock full of doctor appointments.  I’m sure we’ll all be thoroughly exhausted by it.  I’m not looking forward to it even a little bit.

Avery's "new to us" cute Janie and Jack overalls. I love them.

We have no room for these toys. What was I thinking?

Not Much

My rumpus makers are keeping my busy.  I won’t be gone too long.  I don’t think.  In the meantime, I hope you’re keeping dry.

Friday

Well, KCWC is still in full swing.  I’m still plugging away but decided to work on a dress for Chase.  It’s not moving along quite as quickly as the tiny pants but it’s getting there.  It will probably be the last project that I work on for the week even though I did win an awesome pattern for participating!  I might have attempted it but, right now, my head is spinning from all of the information I’ve taken in in the last 12 hours.   Read the rest of this entry »

Nothing Is Safe

Much to the big sister’s chagrin everything must now be shared.  Suddenly baby’s not too small anymore.  Thankfully there was enough watermelon for everybody.   Read the rest of this entry »

Summer Corn

Makes me feel fine?  Seriously, I’m sorry I can’t help these things.  I think I’d forgotten how good corn could be.  We’ve eaten plenty of it this summer and it’s been good but this was GOOD.  With all the birthday parties this weekend I didn’t make it to the market so we went to a teeny tiny one yesterday.  There were exactly three vendors.  I’ve never been to a market quite so small.  But I did find everything I needed so I guess I can’t complain. Two Parties

Two cakes, two outfit changes, two, maybe three goodie bags.  The weekend of many parties.  So many parties that I could hardly keep it all straight and almost showed up two hours early for one.  Whoops.

I have plenty of things on my to do list but I’m recovering tonight from all the time I spent in the last few days cutting felt into tiny pieces.  Today’s birthdays were for two of Chase’s very special friends so we made some very special gifts.  Chase even helped me do some sewing on the machine.

The thing about making surprises is the waiting.  As soon as I pull stuff off the machine I want to run right out and give it to the intended recipient.  Sometimes before I even cut off the threads and finish up properly.  These two projects didn’t involve too much sewing but I did kill an entire bottle of fabric glue.

My Happy Girl

FxCam_1281373978834I haven’t seen her in over 24 hours.  Well, once briefly this afternoon but every other minute has been filled with wheezing, snot, and a hideous barking cough.  Chase never got sick like this.  A could I can handle.  This is something different entirely.  She woke up with a runny nose and about 10 minutes after I took this picture around 1pm she started coughing.   Read the rest of this entry »

Crazy Monkeys

The last 24 hours here have been a little crazy.  Some time yesterday Avery started practicing rolling over back to front.  She’s done it before but I mean really practicing.  Like over and over again.  Then some time around 5 this morning she decided to practice again.   Read the rest of this entry »

Cheers!

It’s only a mildly disturbing picture of an infant holding a tiny wine glass (they’re on clearance at IKEA for $1.99).  She said it had good terroir.  Not really.  She mostly just screamed into the cup to hear her voice amplified.   Read the rest of this entry »

Three Years Ago…

I was celebrating that Chase finally gave up on the 4am feeding.  I guess I took a more no nonsense approach this time around but it certainly didn’t feel that way.

I was commuting to DC WITH Chase and helping to close down the law office.

I was thinking that Chase was learning how to give a high five?  Hmm, not sure about that one.

The archives are fun.  I was evidently a very excited new mommy.
