The Big Idea:
Ok, I’m ready to talk about it now. Some would say that a tea party just can’t be done for the preschool set. It all started months ago when I started asking Chase what she had in mind for her birthday party. Last year we did a bowling party and the year before that she had her party at the gym where she did a toddler tumbling class. But this year she wanted a dress up tea party.
I want to write a long post about Chase’s birthday party. About the decorations and the food and all of that good stuff, oh and the cake! But I’m still resting. Maybe tomorrow.
I just wanted to check in and to tell you that the kids had a great time. You can see all of the pictures here. Viewing them sequentially cracks me up. Especially the ones of the kids in the photo booth. That was probably the best idea I’ve ever had.
Ok, back to putting my feet up.
I really, really can’t believe that it’s been a whole year. Where did the time go? I’ve been trying, unsuccessfully, to figure out the answer to that question. It’s unbelievable really. It was a good day even if we all cried just a little.
It was mostly a blur for me but I hear that the kids had fun. Today, While Chase was at school, Avery spent most of the day going through her candy bucket and trying to remember what she was supposed to do with a lollipop. She never said anything about it but I started to think it might be about the shoes. I thought she’d be thrilled to have a princess dress to dress up in. It’s almost always the first thing she runs for when she gets to school. But at school they also have a pair of “glass” slippers. So, that’s what we did. And sure enough AS SOON as she had them she was asking where’s my dress and wanting to wear it! Phew. I was getting really worried. We have no alternates. Now as soon as I remember the safe place that Avery’s mouse costume is hiding in I’ll be in great shape. I even decided to dress up as a witch! I’m pretty sure I got rid of the old cowboy boots, I think Ben’s going to dodge a bullet on this one.
Everyone, including myself, wants to know when I started caring about Halloween. I don’t know. It must have come along with the kids like endless fatigue. What can I say, we’re having a lot of fun. Read the rest of this entry »
So I think we love Halloween around here just a little bit. It comes as a little bit of a surprise because it never meant much to me and Ben has this deep seated moral opposition to all “made up” holidays.
