It took us like 3 or 4 days to get it together. I know because we went to buy candy last week when we hadn’t even started with the dough yet. But here we are! We pulled it off again and I was only a little worried that we wouldn’t be able to cross it off our holiday bucket list. Gingerbread houses are so fun! Especially when you don’t fuss with it much.

To say I don’t fuss with it much is an understatement. I used a box of crackers as a guide for the shape of the house and I don’t facilitate the decoration much at all. They make is exactly how they want it to look. Maybe one day they’ll get interested in making them precise and fancy but this is good for right now.

And everyone is happy.

Plum Season

It’s here! I asked the guy how long he’d have them and he thought maybe into next week but they’re already dwindling. Italian prune plums have such a small window and so few farmers grow them. They’re probably a fickle fruit. Only a fickle fruit would be this tasty.  Read the rest of this entry »
