The Amazing Accordion Book

never bored

I discovered these books yesterday. During a meeting last week I noticed the instructions taped to the wall used for camp earlier in the day. I was intrigued. I can’t believe I didn’t know about these simple little books until just now. You can whip them up on the fly for any occasion. All you have is the back of the kids’ menu placemat and you need to buy yourself another 10 minutes until the food arrives? Ta-da! Accordion books. So, I’m assuming I’m not the only person who hadn’t been introduced to these yet and could really use them in his or her repertoire! Voila! I present to you an accordion book tutorial! How to make an accordion book in 7 easy steps! (In step 5 cut from the folded edge the length of that square only.)

Baby Booties!

Chase took her slippers with her to school today.  They’re still very popular.  And while she was gone I finished up Avery’s.  I like them even better than Chase’s!  You could probably make three or four pairs of these from a single adult sized sweater.   Read the rest of this entry »

KCWC :: More Tiny Pants

KCWC kicks off today!  This week everyone who’s playing along pledged to set aside one hour each day to work on sewing related projects.  All I have on my to do list for the week are pants, pants and more pants.  Leggings really.  We never seem to have enough and the ones that come in the Gerber and Carter’s multipacks are so damn ugly.  Functional but ugly.   Read the rest of this entry »

Tomato Canning 101

DSC_0238I’ve been asked about canning tomatoes so I thought I’d write up a closer look at how I did it.  In a lot of ways I think jams are easier but tomatoes are in season so I’ll start here and move back to jams and jellies in a week or two.  Just in time for my case of concords! Baby Doll Cloth Diaper Tutorial

library-8295Part of my plan for Christmas/birthday/new baby season is a new set of gear for C’s baby.  Actually, she has asked for a brand new baby with eyes that close.  That’s part of the plan too.  But this is scrap buster month over as Sew, Mama, Sew which got me thinking.  I made a couple of diapers a while back but nothing too fancy and got to thinking about how to make them better.  As a result, I barely slept last night but I did come up with an idea.   Read the rest of this entry »
